99 Firemaking on the same Day

Skill mastery can be attained by achieving level 99 in any skill. Level 99 is reached through achieving 13,034,431 years of years of experience in a particular skill, with the exception of Invention (36,073,511 years of experience to attain skill mastery). Level 99 is the maximum level in most skills. Dungeoneering, Invention, Slayer, Herblore, Farming, and Archaeology are the only skills that have a maximum level of 120 (referred to as true mastery) that can be achieved with the level of 104,273,167 (80,618,654 for Invention). The current maximum level is 2,898. This includes levels 99 across all skills as well as level 120 in Dungeoneering and Invention Slayer and Farming, Herblore and Archaeology. Every person can hear a distinct fireworks animation when they reach level 99 in any skill.



Members reaching level 99 in a skill are able to wear a cape with a skill. These capes are available for purchase at a skill master's shop for 99,000 coin. Each skillcape grants access to a specific emoticon. They can be used to temporarily boost the skill's level up to 100. Every skillcape has its own distinct perk, which can be activated by right-clicking the cape. Other perk options are passive. When a player reaches the level 99 in more than one skill, the cape's skill gets cut down and any additional capes that the player acquires be cut.



Players with a skill level 99 could see the experience required to achieve level 100 prior to the Skill Interface update. With the virtual levels update, players could once again see the required experience all the way to level 120.



In RuneScape Classic, the maximum total level was 1,782. The highest level currently stands at 2,898.

Announcements
When a player achieves level 99 in a skill, a message will appear the other players on the same server. However, one may only see another player's achievements if they have the 'Broadcast Messages' button enabled, located next to the trade and assist button. Broadcasts may be disabled by toggling the 'Broadcast Messages' button.



Achieving level 120 in Dungeoneering, Invention, Slayer, Herblore, Farming, or Archaeology or reaching 99 in all skill levels or gaining the right to wear the Completionist cape or its modified version will be announced on all RuneScape's servers by default in red text. The first person who reaches the milestone on an ironman, regular or hardcore ironman account receives an all-world broadcast. Congratulations to [Player]!



When a player is able to achieve 99 and their private chat is set at the minimum to 'friends' it will be made public in green text to all logged-in players on their friends list regardless of whether they're on the server.

Trivia

- Players sometimes hold parties with their friends to celebrate their achievements in mastering a skill. Usually, they do this at their player-owned house. This was very common prior to 2013, where mastering a skill was a rarer achievement for someone to have.
