A mandatory recall has been issued for eight kinds of popular light-up shoes that are sold at Big W.
Product Safety Australia has recalled the Caprice Australia's light up thongs because of concerns that the two batteries could pose a danger to children in the early years.
There are a myriad of design options for the thongs, including Frozen, Spiderman and Star Wars. OMG and Minecraft.
Caprice Australia's light-up thongs (above) have been recalled over concerns the two batteries could pose a danger to children.
The PSA stated that the small battery compartment on the thongs may be exposed as time passes, making it easier for children to access the two small button batteries.
It was stated that children may inhale the button batteries and suffer serious internal burns that could cause serious illness or even death.
The batteries in button batteries also pose a choking hazard to young children.'
The thongs have been available for purchase online and in store at Big W since September 7 2020 but they have not been sold since May 11 2022.

The thongs are available online and in store at Big W since September 7, 2020, but they have not been sold since May 11 2022.
Customers are asked to stop wearing the shoes and return them to Big W Australia for a full refund.
