Memory and Gender
Test the memory capabilities of girls and boys in the eighth grade. Begin by collecting five to 10 male and five to 10 female volunteers. For the first test, show each volunteer several black-and-white pictures of androgynous faces, identifying each as either male or female. After a few minutes, show the pictures again, asking the volunteer to identify which pictures show males or females. For the second test, show each volunteer a simple image for 30 seconds. Remove the picture, allow another minute to pass and ask the volunteer to duplicate the image from memory. For each test, average the accuracy of your volunteers by gender.
Psychology Projects
Some studies say that about a third of British women won't even leave the house without wearing makeup, leading to speculation that cosmetics are often linked to self-esteem. You can explore whether makeup improves the self-esteem of women and girls by asking your friends who use makeup — and their moms — to go without it for a week. They can keep a daily diary about anything that happens related to the absence of makeup. Similarly, you could have friends who wear little or no makeup uses it regularly for a week and keeps a diary.
Survey
Conduct a psychological test about how females feel about makeup. Ask survey questions such as how they feel about themselves without makeup and how they feel with makeup on, when they began wearing makeup and if there are any cultural influences on what makeup they wear or how it is applied. Measure the tester’s opinions to pictures of celebrities with and without makeup. Consider asking women who normally wear makeup to go without makeup for a week and ask them how they feel and how people treated them. Gather your results and analyze the data to see if you can generalize about women and makeup based upon the subject’s age or culture
