How do I get Into Minecraft Betas

Each week we release early versions of Minecraft updates to test new features, shake off wrinkles, and eliminate bugs before they reach more people. It's a great opportunity for players like you to see the latest features we're working on, before it officially launches!



If the prospect of seeing new things first has you excited and you're not afraid of having to deal with some glitches in the process take a look at your favorite platform here below!



Be aware!



These versions are by their nature somewhat unstable, and things can be odd or wacky, or just plain wrong.



The game could fail and the things you create may be corrupted. It's a small risk however it's a risk nonetheless!



These versions are not able to access Realms or Featured Servers. They can only be played in multiplayer worlds alongside players from the same version.





ANDROID



Disclaimer: You must to have the original Minecraft game to test the upcoming Minecraft features on Android.





Android offers a Beta program that can be joined at any time. You can join the Beta program to replace your current Minecraft version with the Beta version.



Find the official Minecraft app on the Google Play Store to join the Android Beta. Scroll down to the "Join the Beta" section and click "Join". It will take a few seconds before you launch your regular Minecraft application. Note that this may take some time however, eventually your application will be switched to the beta version. If you decide to quit the Beta version, simply return to the Google Play Store and scroll down to "You are a beta tester" before clicking "Leave". The app will then return to regular Minecraft.



Additionally, you might need to activate experimental features in the game to test the latest Minecraft features.





Windows 10 and 11



Disclaimer: To test the latest Minecraft features on Windows, you will have to own the original Minecraft video. Subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.

Java Edition




In the Java Edition, we put out regular test versions known as Snapshots. In the Minecraft Launcher, choose the most recent snapshot by clicking the Arrow next to the Play button on the main tab, and then click the Play button.




Bedrock Edition




The Bedrock Edition has test versions that are released periodically in Minecraft Preview. You can download and use Minecraft Preview by selecting the "Minecraft Preview" tab in the Minecraft Launcher and clicking the "Install" or "Play" button.





XBOX One



Disclaimer: To test out the latest Minecraft features on Xbox, you must own the digital Minecraft game. It is available in Xbox Game Pass. Unfortunately, Preview isn't accessible to Disc owners.





The Bedrock Edition includes test versions that are released periodically in Minecraft Preview. Find Minecraft Preview in Microsoft Store. Click Install on the page that results. After that, you can open Minecraft Preview and click "Play Preview" to start playing.





iOS

IPhones and iPads now have Minecraft Preview, which players can opt into through this link and follow the instructions when slots are available. While the slots are limited, we will open more regularly, and take away inactive players to allow new players in.



Click on the "Create New World" or "Edit World" setting. If you are creating a new world go to the "Game" setting and scroll down to "Experiments" and then click the toggle you wish to activate. A popup will appear asking you if you would like to enable the game's experimental gameplay. Click "Activate Experiments". If you are using an existing world This will create a new duplicate of your world with "Copy ..."" added to it.

MACOS & LINUX



Disclaimer: You need to have the original Minecraft game to play the future Minecraft features on MacOS and Linux.





In the Java Edition, we put out regular test versions known as Snapshots. In the Minecraft Launcher, choose the most recent snapshot by clicking the Arrow next to the Play button on the main tab. Then press the Play button.



You may have to enable some of the experimental features available in the game to test the latest Minecraft features.



Enter the "Create New World" setting. Click on "Data Packs" and select the data pack you would like to play. Click on "Done" When you reach the next screen, click "Create New World".
