Minecraft is Building an Education for Students

Recently, we discussed the Oregon Trail of our youth and the benefits of gamification, however, Minecraft goes further , bringing games into the classroom. Minecraft is a huge success with kids all over the world. The concept of a two-person business in a small French town has evolved into a global phenomenon that has sold over 200 million copies. Minecraft is distinct from other blockbuster games due to its blurry and cartoony graphics. Simply put, the game is comprised of mining and crafting. You search for resources , and then make use of them to construct other things. The first goal is to build a home to keep yourself safe during nighttime, which happens every four hours. If you fail, then spiders, skeletons and zombies will eat your brains and your character dies. Don't worry parents, there isn't any blood or gore in Minecraft monster fighting. A lot of the above description is educational, but according to scientists Minecraft can actually teach children how to react in real-life situations. The game is is called an "open-ended sandbox" which means there are no guidelines and it can be difficult at first. My seven-year old daughter was browsing YouTube videos that she had found when she searched for Minecraft assistance. Others can attack a player and kill them (remember, there is no blood) and then take all their treasures. To avoid conflict, players need to learn how to safeguard their possessions from the other players. There is always the possibility that one of the builders might be angry and ruin their hours of hard work. So in the end, it's an animal-friendly world within Minecraft. As cruel as it may sound the kids are still enthralled by the game and can spend endless hours working on their home, town or historical landmark, or anything else you could imagine. In Minecraft there are no rules and there is no limit to what your creativity can build. It is simple to discover how Minecraft can be used to solve real-world issues.
