With Minecraft the wildly popular lo-fi sandbox game you can explore the world, fight (or avoid) mobs, build automated structures, and even design structures by yourself or with friends.
Pros
Play as you like:
Minecraft isn't a difficult game to defeat. There are no princesses or armies to save and no obstacles to overcome, and no army to defeat. You can have as much fun as you like. Collect raw materials, grow food, and craft items. Explore to find mansions, fortresses, villages, and many more dimensions. You can also fight mobs (including zombies, skeletons, and dragons) and other players.
Multi-player or single player: You can create a single-player game world, or create a network in which you and other players can play. Or join a community hosted on a server, which can host dozens to hundreds more players.
Modify the game to your liking:When you start a new world, you pick your style of play, including Survival mode (where you collect resources, craft items and work to stay alive) and Creative mode (where you can rapidly spawn items, fly around, and work on building). And you can change the characteristics of your game through mods created by the community: Add a map to track your travels for instance, or add new crafting recipes and new items.
Create useful mechanisms using redstone: You can create automated devices from lamps, passcode doors, automated farms and Rube Goldberg machinery using redstone. Redstone functions a bit like an electrical circuit, letting you power items on and off to create amazingly sophisticated devices.
Engaged community The game is supported by a huge, enthusiastic community that runs forums, wikis and YouTube channels, as well as Twitch streams. Everything you need to know about building redstone devices, as as live streams of players destroying mobs, is available here.
Cons
A few unruly servers communities:
Joining the server community is a great way to learn about the game and take part in events and projects you could never take on by yourself. Many servers are well-run with attentive mods and admins who are helpful, however certain servers are more chaotic and not suitable for everyone.
Modding not for the fearful:Minecraft doesn't have an easy method to add mods, and the effort can be difficult. Modifying the game may require you to look through shady websites, synchronize mod and game versions, download software your computer may warn you about, and dig through folders you're probably not aware about. While the results can make the game more enjoyable when done properly, they'll require patience and expertise.

Bottom Line
The open-ended nature of Minecraft is an important reason why it is so fun to play. Minecraft is large enough to allow various gameplay styles, which is why it can be difficult to find the right community of servers or to modify the game.
