Squid Game: The Challenge là chương trình trò chơi thực tế dựa trên bộ phim nổi tiếng Squid Game của Hàn Quốc. 456 người từ khắp nơi trên thế giới sẽ tham gia trò chơi sinh tồn với giải thưởng trị giá 4,56 triệu USD. Chương trình bao gồm 10 tập.
Theo YTN, Squid Game được 111 triệu người dùng theo dõi trong khoảng một tháng sau khi phát hành trên nền tảng. xem phim chiếu rạp đó, bộ phim trở nên nổi tiếng trên toàn thế giới. Ê-kíp Squid Game thắng giải Đạo diễn xuất sắc (Hwang Dong Hyuk) và Nam diễn viên chính xuất sắc (Lee Jung Jae) ở hạng mục phim truyền hình của giải Primetime Emmy diễn ra ngày 12/9/2022 tại Los Angeles.
Sau thành công của phần 1, đơn vị sản xuất quyết định thực hiện chương trình thực tế dựa trên bộ phim đồng thời lên kế hoạch quay phần 2.
Ngày 11/10/2022, tờ Sports Khan đưa tin diễn viên Lee Jung Jae được trả 1 tỷ won (khoảng 700.000 USD) cho mỗi tập Squid Game mùa 2. Nếu phần 2 gồm 9 tập tương tự mùa một, thu nhập của Lee Jung Jae ước tính là 9 tỷ won (khoảng 6,3 triệu USD).
Một nguồn tin cho biết mùa 2 của phim dự kiến quay vào năm 2023. Lee Jung Jae đã ký hợp đồng với đơn vị sản xuất phim và đạo diễn Hwang Dong Hyuk cũng nhận được khoản tiền lớn khi tham gia phần 2.
