Isle of Cumbrae recreated in video game Minecraft

The Isle of Cumbrae has been recreated in the video game Minecraft as part of a project to get young people involved in the history of the area.
Students from Abertay University, Dundee, created Cumbraecraft inspired by the popular Ayrshire Coast tourist attraction.
The game features eight lessons designed for elementary school children.
Garrison House, Lion Rock Garrison House, Lion Rock, and Cathedral of the Isles are some of the locations that are featured on the virtual island.
You can also explore Crocodile Rock and the Port in the game.
It can be utilized in both classroom and home-learning environments.
The project was carried out by Romain Bourdon, Fergus Coyne, and Claire Monaghan (Games students), while they were studying at Abertay's School of Design and Informatics.
Due to the current travel restrictions, the trio were unable to visit the island before they began their work. They were forced to use images as their sole source of reference.
The game is part a North Ayrshire Council regeneration plan and Historic Environment Scotland.
The council's regeneration officer Kasia Smith said she was "thrilled" that the game was accessible to pupils.
She stated, "Cumbrae has such an interesting history and it's so vital that our youngsters are aware of their community's history and culture."
"Our Millport Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme has been a real success in preserving the island's historical features, and Cumbraecraft has enabled us to reach out to a newer audience."
