Minecraft is available in two versions that can be purchased separately and cannot be interchanged. Deciding which one is best for you can be a daunting experience however we'll do our best to make it easy for you.
The Java Edition is the original Minecraft version that is purchased on the Minecraft website. The version of Minecraft that you can grab on mobile devices, consoles, and through the Microsoft Store, is referred to as the Bedrock Edition..
You should get the same Minecraft version as your friends when you play Minecraft with them.
However, if you're the first of your clan to get the game, or you are planning to play it solo Minecraft There are a couple of things to consider before deciding on which one to choose.
The Bedrock Edition limits modding
The Bedrock Edition has add-ons but it doesn't include any additional paid content. The Java version allows you to install mods (such texture packs) at free.
If you're planning on modding the heck out of your game and don't want to be restricted by Microsoft-approved mods, you'll prefer the Java Edition.

Bedrock is more suitable when you are looking to play across multiple platforms
The Bedrock Edition allows for cross-platform multiplayer on consoles, mobile devices, and Windows 10. The Java Edition is limited to PC users and will not allow you to play with Java players.
Keep in mind that the Bedrock Edition will not be available on all platforms. You will need to repurchase it on every platform. However, add-ons, such as texture packs and texture packs can be purchased on other platforms.
Hardcore, Spectator modes only available in the Java Edition
Hardcore mode (which allows you to ensure that you can't respawn when you die) and Spectator mode (which lets you fly around and view the world) are only available in the Java Edition of Minecraft.
Bedrock or Java?
For the majority of players who are not experienced for casual players, the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft is the way to go. It is more user-friendly and more stable than the Java Edition. It also lets you to play with different platforms, which is an excellent benefit.
Java Edition is a better option if you're an avid Minecraft player who wants to tinker with the game's core features or explore the game's in-development features prior to most players.
