An Invisible Wall is Affixed to the Earth

The initial version, launched on December 2, 2009, was more restricted than any other version of Minecraft ever released to the public, which included the pre-classic version that is accessible through the Minecraft Launcher. The controls were modified and additional blocks were added to the game. [2]

In November 2014, the original page hosting the game was taken down. Its archive can still be accessed using the Wayback Machine. The executable is also accessible on the Internet Archive.

On December 2, 2012 Notch released a JavaScript version of Minecraft 4k. This version does not allow you to move or move around however the camera or the entire world can move itself. There's also a blue water-like block that can be added to the other types of blocks. [3]

1 Gameplay 1.1 General, 1.2 World, 1.3 Controls

Gameplay[]

General[]

The player can place or destroy blocks. The only block that a player can put in is grass, reminiscent of the very early versions of Minecraft internally known as RubyDung that are accessible via the Minecraft Launcher. Leaves do not decay.

World[]

The same 64x64x63 block universe is created each time the game is loaded. There are only two blocks in the game which are: grass block, air, dirt block, stone bricks and bricks. No mobs exist.

The initial build of the game only has one type of block, which uses a XOR Fractal as texture.

An invisible wall is a barrier that surrounds the world, and prevents players from fleeing, similar to invisible bedrock, or an old world.

Controls[]

The player can move around using standard WASD controls, as well as jump using Space.

Controls for right- and left-clicking are reversed from traditional Minecraft controls. Left-click puts blocks and right-click destroys them. Middle-click also places blocks weirdly enough. Moving the mouse turns the camera "smoothly," similar to pressing F8 in Java Edition, and cannot be changed in this version.

The camera acts differently to Minecraft's. The camera only moves when the cursor moves a significant distance from the center of Minecraft's viewport. Blocks from the world are chosen by the cursor, and not than the center of the viewport.

The game does not have any kind of options menu or HUD.

Graphics[]

Since the game renders at low resolution, graphics appear pixelated. Even at higher resolution the game fails to scale the resolution properly and the noisy appearance is retained. Block textures are like those used in Classic because Classic 0.30 (Creative) was the most modern version of Minecraft at the time. The majority of blocks are louder than their Minecraft counterparts, but certain blocks, like stone, appear different. The sky is black because of the absence of skyboxes.

When the cursor is hovered over the block, the outline of the block is thick and white, in contrast to Minecraft's thin gray outline of block selection.

A comparison of Minecraft 4k's textures and Minecraft Classic's block textures.

Another screenshot illustrating the same.

Blocks[]

The first version of the game has a single non-air block.

In the second version the block IDs are stored with four bits, which results in 16 possible IDs. They are usually filled in with slightly different textured dirt.
