UN uses Minecraft as a plan tool for communities from third world countries
The Xbox version is currently sold out in four million copies.
In an effort to improve the quality of the communities in third world countries, United Nations Habitat has collaborated with Minecraft
This three-year partnership is part of a project called "Block by Block", which seeks to make 300 public spaces more attractive by 2016.
Students will receive a customized Minecraft version that includes virtual representations of communities that are already in existence. They can then make use of the game's tools to plan their own neighbourhoods.
"By gathering feedback from local communities this game can inform urban planners and decision makers about the kind of improvements that would be most beneficial and appealing to the overall community," said UN Habitat.
The pilot project has already begun in Kibera, Nairobi.
4J Studios announced via Twitter that the Xbox 360 version Minecraft has sold more than four million copies.

The game was released on May 9th. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition broke records for sales at XBLA and sold 1 million copies in record time.
