This seemingly easy task requires a surprising amount of expertise. The person in charge must be able to comprehend the concept of a tower and how to build it. They should also know that 15 blocks are an indication of the tower's height and what "15" signifies. It also needs to understand the concept of "smiley" and how to build it and also know what it means to put it "on the top." And it's not difficult to imagine how these demands could become more complicated.
But the opportunities for an AI to learn are huge. If Facebook can get enough human assistance The assistant could ask humans for help learning.
And Facebook is setting itself the task of creating the AI to improve itself. One of the biggest criticisms of AI systems is that they don't develop new tasks beyond those they are trained for and for which data is gathered and prepared. However, the researchers believe that the Minecraft environment is a perfect one to create this type of learning.
That's interesting work that sketches out an ambitious goal for Facebook. It's still early days. The project is described by the team as"a "call for arms".
