Sound the annoyingly loud birthday alarm, because it's Minecraft's 11th birthday! We were thinking of eating lots of cake-shaped blocks to celebrate the occasion.
We thought that it would be a good idea to give a new logo and name and the secret sauce that makes the machine run? While also eating lots of cake? Much better! Let's do it.
Why do we require a brand new name and logo in the first in the first place? Well, why not? Humans like to reinvent themselves at times, so it's only right to extend the same courtesy to an organization that's been in existence for more than a decade. Would still wear the outfit that was the foundation of your style in 2009? Or would you ?
A lot has changed since then! We are now a multi-title and multi-location company that was founded in Stockholm. We are currently planning an epic feature film, putting together an amazing live show as well as exploring new games ideas.
There are also several studiosaround the globe that are all part of Mojang. This, in a stroke o genius, has inspired our brand new nickname... *drumroll * and birthday alarm blast Mojang Studios.
