The Plane is Being Pinned Up

One of the difficulties with flying in Minecraft is the inability to see the ground due short render distances. MFS helps correct this with an array of flight instruments. Instruments can be added to the plane GUI, and will appear in the HUD and on the plane, based on their location in the GUI. The HUD itself has four modes, and they can be changed by pressing the mod key along with the cam lock key.

1. Normal: Displays the top rows of gauges including parking brake and throttle. 2. Full: Shows the normal HUD and lower row of gauges.

3. Light: Shows only the top three gauges. No background. Also, it displays in third-person.

4. None: There isn't an HUD.

There are a myriad of flight instruments and gauges available for planes. Each has its own use.

Attitude Indicator

Perhaps the most versatile instruments, the attitude indicator shows the the state of the aircraft in relation to the ground. The indicator rotates to indicate the current roll, and the inner circle moves up and down to show the pitch of the plane. The direction in which the plane is pointed in is not always the same as its direction. A plane that is pointed upwards could actually be in a stall and fall like rocks.

Altimeter

This gauge is merely a way to tell how high the plane is. The short pointer counts 100 blocks, while the long pointer counts 10 blocks. The default behavior of the altimeter is to read 0 when Y=0. However, you can change this behavior to read 0 at sea level (Y=64).

Heading Indicator

A simple gauge that informs you where you're headed. Although it's similar to the real-world counterpart the gauge is modified to work with Minecraft's bizarre south-is-positive coordinate system. You could always utilize the debug screen, but what's all the fun in that?

Airspeed Indicator

This gauge measures how fast the plane is moving in blocks per second. A plane can fly in the green zone. However, this will depend on the flap settings and weight. The yellow zone is safe, but sudden movements and deployment of flaps is not advised. The red zone should be avoided as exceeding this speed could result in the things breaking. Minecraft will stop processing the plane's forces properly after passing 50 blocks per second. This can lead to undefined behavior. Do note that the flyable speed changes depending on the speed factor modified in the config.

Turn Coordinator

This gauge indicates the rate at which the plane is turning plus the rate at which the turn is growing. This means that it will move when the plane begins to roll and will stop when the aileron has no longer being used. This lets the pilot adjust the roll of their plane to turn smoothly. The bottom part of the gauge shows the amount of slip during the turn or how straight the plane is in comparison to the direction it is moving in. A well-coordinated turn results in the greatest lift potential and control.

Turn and Slip Indicator

This indicator is the precursor to the turn coordinator. F-EMAIL.ORG The difference is that this indicator doesn't consider the roll of the aircraft. It is favored by older and more experienced pilots, it can be used to perform the Stark 1-2-3 maneuver in the event that the artificial horizon is not visible due to clouds or failure of the attitude indicator.

Vertical Speed Indicator

This indicator shows how many blocks per second the plane moves in the Y direction. A gradual climb is approximately 0.75 However, with flaps and a small payload this could be more than 1.

Lift Reserve Indicator

The indicator of the lift reserve is a new addition to the world of aeronautics. It shows how much of the aircraft’s lift potential is being utilized. The yellow-green line indicates that the plane is flying at an angle of attack of 0, i.e. The plane is not producing any lift. The needle moves towards the red zone as the plane is being pitched up. At the yellow-red border the plane is at the critical angle of attack and producing maximum lift. When you go through the red zone, it can cause the plane to stall, which results in a rapid loss of lift. Useful where short runways require quick ascent.

Tachometer

This gauge shows the current RPM for all engines. This gauge also shows the maximum safe speed , which is indicated by the redline marker. This will help you ensure that you're not over-revving your engines.

Fuel Gauge

Shows fuel level. 'Nuff said.

Fuel Flow Gauge

This gauge shows the fuel consumption of the aircraft. More of a nice-to-know thing than an essential part. Fuel consumption is expressed in buckets per minute. A bucket is the standard lava fuel value 1000.

Engine Temperature Gauge

This gauge shows the temperature of each engine. To ensure maximum engine life the needle should always be in the green. To prevent engine damage, an engine with temperatures in the yellow zone below the yellow mark needs to be warmed up before taking off. An engine with an elevated temperature of red will cause damage to the engine.
