Siêu bom tấn khoa học viễn tưởng liên tục xác lập những kỷ lục phòng vé mới. "Avatar 2" đã vượt qua "No Way Home" để trở thành phim có doanh thu cao thứ 6 mọi thời đại.

Ngày 22/1 (theo giờ Mỹ), Disney thông báo doanh thu Avatar: The Way of Water đã cán mốc 2 tỷ USD vào dịp cuối tuần. Đứa con tinh thần của đạo diễn xem phim trở thành phim ăn khách nhất trong thời kỳ hậu đại dịch.
Cụ thể, Avatar 2 kiếm được 2,024 tỷ USD sau ngày chủ nhật (22/1). Trong đó, 598 triệu USD đến từ thị trường nội địa và 1,426 tỷ USD từ các phòng vé quốc tế. Riêng tại thị trường tỷ dân Trung Quốc, bom tấn này đã thu về khoảng 230 triệu USD.
Với thành tích này, hậu truyện Avatar vươn lên vị trí thứ 6 trong BXH phim có doanh thu cao nhất mọi thời đại. Vị trí này trước đó thuộc về Spider-Man: No Way Home (1,92 tỷ USD). Đồng thời, đây cũng là một trong số phim hiếm hoi vượt qua mốc 2 tỷ USD. Nhờ vậy, James Cameron trở thành đạo diễn đầu tiên trong lịch sử dắt túi 3 siêu bom tấn thương mại (Titanic, Avatar và Avatar 2).
Sau hơn 5 tuần ra rạp, Avatar 2 ít nhiều có dấu hiệu giảm nhiệt. Tuy nhiên, việc bộ phim vẫn có thể trụ rạp khiến doanh thu tiếp tục tăng. Theo dự kiến, bom tấn này sẽ sớm vượt qua Avengers: Infinity War (2,052 tỷ USD) và Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2,071 tỷ USD).
Thậm chí, nhiều chuyên gia kỳ vọng Avatar 2 sẽ soán ngôi Titanic - hiện đứng ở vị trí thứ 4 trong BXH phòng vé với doanh thu xấp xỉ 2,2 tỷ USD.
