Crunchyroll Banana Fish Merchandise
Banana Fish is an illustrated manga series written by Akimi Yashida. It was created in the 1980s. Ash Lynx (17-year-old street gang leader) is the main character. He is confronted by a range of enemies, including Golzine who was once a patron of his gang. Ash also meets several allies during the story. Eiji Okumura, an assistant Japanese photographer, helps Ash investigate his patron.

Ash discovers that Golzine and his government accomplices are also involved in child sexual trafficking. Ash attacks his former patron as a way to end the struggle. Golzine dies in the final confrontation. But not before he leaves Ash a letter.

The original manga was meant for young adult females, but Banana Fish has been adapted into an anime series. Hiroko Uratsui directed Banana Fish's anime. The series was released in 2018. An earlier version of the series was adapted into three manga series: Fly Boy (In the Sky), Angel Eyes (Angel Eyes), and Garden of Light (Manga). All three of these manga series continue to tell the story of Banana Fish's characters. The three previous books can be read independently. Angel Eyes chronicles the first meeting between the main characters at juvenile prison. Fly Boy In the Sky and Garden of Light respectively follow Akira Ibe or Eiji. Both books were published in Bessatsu Shojo Comic magazine. However, the last book is a postscript titled Private Opinion.
