It took a few months, but Minecraft's The Wild Update is nearly here. Mojang and Microsoft are releasing The Wild across all platforms on June 7 and it's just as vast as they promised. The update includes two biomes including a mangrove swamp and the "deep dark" that hides dangerous mobs (such as the Shrieker and Warden) and special resources. You can also use a chest to sail on a boat, meaning you don't have to carry supplies when you cross a lake.
The upgrade includes a "mud block" (made from water and dirt naturally), an item collector mob (the allay) and a frog, which grows from tadpoles. If it is attacked by magma, it may even produce "froglights".

The debut comes a while after Mojang had to rethink its expansion strategy. The initial plan was for a deep dark biome to be launched in 2021. However the biome was renamed The Wild after the developer struggled with the size and complexity of its two-part Caves and Cliffs Update. It's not unusual that Minecraft wants to keep its game relevant for more than a decade, but the schedule suggests that it might have been a little too eager to please.
