The latest install-at-your-own-risk Minecraft update (snapshot "12w34a") is now available over at the official Mojang blog. After installation, a number of fundamental changes are made to way maps and nether portals operate. Additionally, you'll get new items, items to make from said items, and most likely the coolest creature ever.
It's been dubbed the "Wither Boss," this new baddie is a three-headed floating body that shoots explosive skulls from each head. While it's not clear whether the creature is actually in the game however, the files are accessible and can be hacked should you have any death wishes (as Sethbling demonstrated).
This update also adds potatoes and carrots as reagents, the former being used for baked potatoes and the latter being a major ingredient in invisibility potions, of all things. https://bonfire.im/ Splashing the potion will make you and the surrounding mobs invisibly invisible, but will not alter your armor or any objects you are carrying. Meanwhile splashing the baked potato directly on yourself is foolish.
