Minecraft film'set to hit silver screen'

The hugely popular block-building game Minecraft could soon be turned into a film.
Markus Persson, Minecraft creator told this week that Warner Brothers was in conversation with him regarding the project.
Persson claimed that he disclosed the information to stop another trying to leak information about it.
Movie news site Deadline said that one of the producers of the Lego Movie is in charge of the project.

Warner was planning to turn the "live action" version of the game into a feature film, said Deadline.
The film's development is at a very beginning stage, as Warner just recently purchased the rights to make use of Minecraft's iconic blocks, characters and monsters.
The news is less than two weeks after Minecraft creator Mojang took action to shut down a Kickstarter project seeking to raise money for an animated film based on the game.
Film adaptations of best-selling games have a rocky history in Hollywood and many projects do not even get past the planning stage.
A film based on the science-fictional Halo universe, for example, has been under development for the past nine years, but filming has yet to start despite several different scripts being written.
Films inspired by Bioshock, Gears of War and Metal Gear Solid Work have all been talked about but none have yet begun filming.
World of Warcraft is a game that is being made into a movie. Filming began in January with Duncan Jones, a British director. The film is expected to release in early 2016.
