Amazon was today putting the final touches on its first phone which is expected to be revealed in the next few hours by boss Jeff Bezos.

It is believed the device will utilize retina-tracking technology to make images on the smartphone's display appear to float above the screen' and appear three-dimensional from all angles.'

AT&T will be the first carrier to offer the handset in the US in a deal that is similar to the launch of the original iPhone.

Amazon's much rumoured holophone is expected to be announced on June 18. On Wednesday, Amazon unveiled a teaser trailer that showcases people's reactions to the handset. Previously images of the handset were leaked online. The latest images (pictured below) show a slim handset that resembles Apple's iPhone.

AT&T's competitors have been agitated by the report of a deal.

John Legere, chief executive of T-Mobile Seattle, tweeted "Really @Amazon?" Yery.Net What has happened to the pride of your home town?

The handset's images have leaked on the internet.

It is currently being developed at Lab126 Amazon's secretive Silicon Valley hardware unit.

According to Business Week, more than 1,600 people have claimed Lab126 on the professional networking site LinkedIn as their employer.

The latest images also show a relatively thin handset - which resembles Apple's iPhone.

'Multiple trusted sources have verified the authenticity of the image which was created to be used internally by graphic designers at Amazon BGR,' the website BGR stated.

The handset is said to take design cues from Apple's iPhone 5 and Google's Nexus handset.

BGR confirmed that the phone will look similar to other full-touch smartphones available, as seen in the latest image.

"In fact it appears to take design cues from a variety of phones, including Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy S line. The HTC One has a polished and chamfered design that is similar to the Amazon phone.

The handset is expected to come with a 4.7 inch display with 720p HD resolution as well as a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM, and six distinct camera modules to produce the 3D effect.

It will run an extremely customized version Google's Android operating system that is similar to that used on Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets.

The Amazon handset features an edge that's beveled like Apple's iPhone 5

Previously the site has obtained images of the handset encased in the protective case.

"Finally, we have photos of a prototype device that is yet to be released. This provides the world with a first look at Amazon's much anticipated phone.
