Minecraft 1.18 Release Date: what's Coming with Caves And Cliffs Part 2?

What's coming in Minecraft 1.18 and when will it be released? Together, 1.17 and 1.18 form the massive Caves and Cliffs update. This update will forever change Minecraft's worlds with incredible new blocks, new resources, and stunning world generation changes. We'll be discussing below.



Here are the details on Caves and Cliffs Part 2 and the most recent news on Minecraft 1.18.



Minecraft 1.18 will be released on November 30th , for both Java and Bedrock editions, as announced on Minecraft.net. This update will be part 2 of the Caves and Cliffs update. 1.17 was originally scheduled to be released as a complete set. Mojang has decided to divide Caves and Cliffs into two major updates in order to give them to spend more time working on the huge changes these updates will bring to Minecraft.



And I do mean monumental. Caves and Cliffs Part 1 introduced over 90 new types of blocks new creatures, such as Glow Squid, Goats, and Axolotls; and new tools such as Lightning Rods and Spyglasses. Caves and Cliffs part 2 will completely change Minecraft's terrain generation and populate the deepest levels with a variety of new resources and strange objects. Let's review the Minecraft 1.18 update features.



Terrain changes by exploring below Y=0



In Minecraft 1.18 the world generation is being revamped, and for the first time, you'll be able to dig beneath the Y-Level 0.



The new depth is -64, and below Y=0, you'll be in the so-called "Deepslate layer" where stone-like blocks transform into deepslate blocks. This is also the case for ore veins where you'll find copper gold, iron redstone, and the like in deepslate veins once you're below the Y=0.



The new underground terrain generation features will let you explore all kinds of new cave structures in Minecraft 1.18. The Caves and Cliffs changes were to include the all-new Deep Dark biome, but this biome, along with its dreadful occupant, the Warden was delayed due to Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update.

Mountains that tower over you



Mountains in Minecraft 1.18 are being redesigned, and are now being created in a new method. Instead of having only one or two "extreme hills" or "mountain" biomes There are five new sub-biomes that make up the different layers in each mountain.



- Mountain Meadow (Y=100-140): home to flowers and sweet berry bushes Mountain Grove (Y=110-140): home to sweet berry bushes and flowers Mountain Grove (Y=110-140): snowy home to rabbits and Polar bears. - Snowy Slopes, where goats live. Lofty Peaks (Y=170+) are peaks of snow and stone and ice. - Snow Capped Peaks (Y=170+) The same as Lofty Peaks but cold enough for Packed Ice as well.



Pay attention to the Y-Levels and you'll notice that 1.18 increases the maximum height of mountains. Citizensnpcs Prior to that, they were limited to around 140 Y but now they're able to reach up to the height limit of Y=255. This is a great idea for towers and castles that are high up on the mountains.



Not all mountains will be this tall, but only the tallest mountains will be sporting the new Lofty Peaks and Snow Capped Peaks biomes. These changes to terrain will bring a new sense to exploration and discovery in any 1.18 Minecraft world. Biomes of Dripstone Cave and Lush Cave



Caves and Cliffs Part 2, which is diving back below the ground, brings two more cave types The Lush Cave and Dripstone Cave.



Lush Caves are cool caves that are brimming with vines and moss. It sounds like Lush Caves will be ideal locations for parkour. I'm eager to see how these stunning caves look like with the most effective Minecraft shader packs.



Dripstone Caves are, naturally they are the home of the new Dripstone blocks that naturally expand by dropping to create organic-looking stalactites and stalagmites. In addition to this intriguing terrain feature Dripstone Caves function like any other cave, but they'll no doubt be highly sought after just because of the dripstone.



What about the other features promised in Caves and Cliffs Part 2?



Several notable additions that were planned to be released with Minecraft 1.18 were delayed, and will arrive in Minecraft 1.19 which is expected to drop sometime in 2022. This includes the Warden, Sculk Blocks, the Deep Dark biome, and Sculk Blocks.



It's been confirmed at least three of the delayed features (namely Bundles and Archaeology) won't be included in the Wild Update. However, the Minecraft team is trying to ensure that none of these features are being canceled. It's a bit of a disappointment for those who were the most excited about these new features however, at least we'll soon get to experience the massive new changes to the terrain that Minecraft 1.18 will bring.
