Hi Terrie,
Thanks for you clarifications. There are still some concerns, can you please explain a bit more on them?

2. Tax amount
a. Why it's 15% with "All cash" option, but 12% with Assisted option?
TL: => Because the amount received in the hand is lower. Accommodation when paid for by the company is tax-free to the employee, so long as the total rent is less than a certain threshold number. These % are guesstimates, because Japanese tax is graded, and increases as you earn more. Further, you'll only be paying national tax for the first year, which is half the normal rate.

[Tuan Duong]
I'm not sure that I'm understanding this correctly. So there are some thresholds and corresponding tax, and when the earned money reaches to next level, the tax will be increased. But it should keep increasing from probation - first year - time after that, I saw it's always 12% for "Assisted" and 15% for "All cash". So I'm still confused here.

b. In terms of health insurance, is there any assistance from company? I have no idea how Japanese companies work on this, but in the companies I have worked with, they provide me the additional health insurance beside the required one (issued by government). I do prefer working with insurance because we cannot foresee any risk may occur, unexpectedly.
TL => Japan really only has the standard social insurance, which can either be paid for by the company, or which you can pay yourself. OR, you can get an "expatriate" insurance program, which costs about JPY20,000/month, and use that to provide a fall-back incase anything happens. This is kind of like a travel insurance. Ideally what you should do is to register for local public health insurance privately. I can have someone work with you to organize this. From memory it will total roughly 10% of your in-the-hand salary (meaning JPY37,800 during your probation). It's far more expensive (about 3x more) if you became a full-time employee and pay the standard national health insurance.

[Tuan Duong] Sorry because I didn't get your point very clearly here.
- In Japan, is health insurance covered by the standard issurance? If not, is it required to have health insurance for me - or it's optional? From this link: http://www.htm.co.jp/payroll-social-insurance-practices-japan.htm , health insurance will be covered 50% by employer, 50% by employee. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

3. Apartment assistance
Is 80.000 all in, covering all other fees like water, electricity, gas supply, internet, TV cable, management fee, etc? I hope all are in. It is great for me if I can get this left out of my head for other more important things.
TL => Usually utilities don't cost more than JPY10,000/month for a single person. You would be expected to cover these. Certainly arranging an apartment and taking care of the deposit, we will handle.

[Tuan Duong]
It's fine as for me, thanks for your information.

So basically, I'm agree about the salary that you suggested, but I would like to have health insurance covered by company. Let me know your idea about it.

Regards,
Tuan Duong
