WoW has been in a state of flux in China recently, with the 9 having failed to get approval from the government to release Wrath of the Lich King, which in turn may or may not have led to Blizzard licensing the operation of WoW in China to Netease instead.
In the midst all this it was the players who were caught in the middle. They were unable to play their games in the air, and were killing Kil'jaedan as they waited with bated breath for the Northrend. There are still players who have decided to take the situation to their own. Grnonline.Info The Chinese guild Stars have decided to make a break for the Taiwanese servers which are where Wrath has already been released. They've settled on the Crystalpine Stinger server very nicely, as they have now defeated Mimiron in 25-man Hard Mode, making them only the second guild in the world to have accomplished the task.
It's an incredible feat on its own. However what can we learn about the future of WoW in China? Certainly, not every Chinese player is going to have the motivation and perseverance to switch over to the Taiwanese server and re-level their characters from scratch, but it looks like there's at least some players who are doing this. There might be a chance that a couple of players will even try World of Fight to find something new to do with Wrath.
Whether or not this Taiwan migration will have a major impact on WoW in China is yet to be determined however for the moment, the only thing we know is that the Stars guild is certainly stellar. They deserve congratulations!
