Duncan Jones May Make Sci-Fi Film 'Mute' Before We See 'Warcraft'

You can do it, Duncan! Legendary's upcoming big-budget Warcraft film is currently scheduled for release in June of 2016 that's eleven months left until it's fully finished and playing in theaters. Director Duncan Jones has already begun looking for something to fill the remaining 11 months of his time Perhaps his sci-fi movie Muted. During an interview with Duncan at Comic-Con, Empire heard from Duncan Jones, the Warcraft director that he's looking to see it happen. "It took me 11 months to finish the story into my little indie sci-fi before Warcraft was released... I completed Moon in just 11 months." Here's to hoping that all the pieces are falling into place.



Ever since Moon was a hit in the film industry, Duncan has been trying to make Mute made. We've been covering details for several years, and he spoke just last year about his efforts to pull it off while working around Warcraft, saying he "may give Mute another chance before I place it on the Don Quixote shelf." To understand the context of his remarks Here's the full quote from Empire Comic-Con last year:



"Dark Horse, Glenn Fabry, and myself have been working on [Mute]'s graphic novel for a while literally for a long time and there's a good likelihood, if it canbe completed in the next 11 months that you'll see it before you see [it in the graphic novel."



What exactly is Mute about? When it first came out, Duncan described it as "a thriller that happens to take place in the future" and the plot is believed to revolve around "a woman whose disappearance causes an investigation for her companion, a mute bartender. When she disappears, he has to fight the city's gangsters." This concept art was first released in 2009. We also wrote about it back then when production was stopped in 2011. It is hoped that this time it's feasible. It seems like Duncan has been trying to secure the financing. Although Duncan will not confirm that it will be happening until the contract is completed and arranged but there is a little optimism. Stay tuned for updates.

LOL. The effects in WARCRAFT take forever. I am very excited to learn more about WARCRAFT in this year's Comic Convention. MUTE sounds like it could be quite cool!

Yes!!!! This is what I have been waiting for literally for years. I remember getting excited about the concept art but it was always pushed back. WARCRAFT: Did you ever see any videogame action that was actually enjoyable? Mortal Kombat was a great fighting game back in the 90's. But, it's probably too cheesy in the present. The animated adaptations are fantastic, but I hope WARCRAFT will break the curse.
