How a Moodring can Change Your Mood
If you have ever seen someone wearing a mood band, it is likely that you are curious how such an accessory can affect their mood. Mood rings were popularized in the 1970s as part of an individualist movement called "me". Americans loved their freedom to pursue national interests, but not their freedom to do so. However, mood rings lost their popularity in the early '90s. Many people appreciated the original invention by this point, so it was only natural that mood rings would be reborn.

A mood band is a jewelry item that changes color depending on body temperature. It is based upon biofeedback, a theory about how the body reacts to certain stimuli. This theory states that meditative practices can influence certain bodily sensations as well as cognition.

Mood rings are made up of thermotropic liquid crystals that can change color based upon changes in body temperatures. The crystals can move and twist in response to temperature changes, altering the way light passes by them. They can either be made from synthetic or natural materials. Different colored crystals communicate different emotions. A red mood ring reflects a high level energy. A green moodring is indicative of a more average, relaxed mood.

A mood ring is made up of a single stone and a thin sheet liquid crystals. Crystals can be modified in order to change the structure of their molecules, which will result in a change in color.

Different shades of blue or green can signify different moods. Blue means relaxation and fun. Green indicates confidence. Purple is a soothing color that indicates clarity and purpose. Yellow signifies anxiety and uncertainty.

The mid-1970s saw two men work together to create the color changing ring. Marvin Wernick, a jeweler was the one who came up with the idea. He got the idea while on an emergency phone call with a friend that was a doctor.

Joshua Reynolds, a 33 years old New York City-based marketing executive, was the other man. His interest in biofeedback led him to create a mood-ring. He thought the ring could help people better understand themselves. He developed the Thigh Master exercise machine.

A mood ring, although it is a novel idea, does not live up the hype. It will eventually begin to deteriorate as jewelry is susceptible to moisture and artificial light. Look for a high quality ring, such as one with sterling silver plating and a zinc alloy. This will help to minimize the possibility of it deteriorating. It will save you money and keep your ring in good condition for many years.

You can also use mood rings for other purposes. One example is that a mood ring can be used to help a loved person feel. It's a good idea not to rely on the ring but to ask loved ones what they are feeling.

Aquamarine, garnets, jade and peridot are some of the most commonly used mood ring gems. These gemstones can be used to display all shades of color.
