Technoblade, Minecraft YouTuber Watched by Millions Dead At 23

In just under a decade, Technoblade amassed nearly 11 million YouTube subscribers and 3.7 million Twitter followers after he announced his love for Minecraft, a videogame where players can create virtual worlds using blocks and come up with their own storylines. Technoblade made public the diagnosis of cancer in August 2021, telling his followers in an interview of him playing the game that he sought medical attention due to pain in his arm that he initially believed was the result of repetitive stress injuries from playing.



Technoblade's father has said that Technoblade sent his last message just eight hours prior to his death. In tears, Technoblade's father described his son as "the most incredible kid" anyone could ever wish for, adding: "I miss Technoblade."



Technoblade's father shared the sad news with viewers of his channel.



Technoblade's family released an official statement stating that Technoblade had been through many things while fighting stage 4 cancer. The video has been watched more than 19 million times. He was never complaining and continued to make use of his shrewd mind to conquer what he believed was almost impossible odds. My son's determination in this situation was a shining lesson to all of us who were privileged to be able to walk with him. Thank you for sharing his journey through it all as he completed the work he loved for his beloved fans."



Fans, celebrities and fellow gamers have shared their condolences on social networks.



YouTuber Ted Nivison remembered him as: "Effortlessly funny. Amazingly talented. Too soon gone. Rest at ease Technoblade.



TommyInnit Another YouTuber who is well-known wrote on Twitter: "Technoblade, a legendary figure. minecraft profiles I can't even express how grateful I am to be a huge fan and a close friend of his. I just know he's strategizing in heaven on how to beat God."



In a statement to CNN, Sarcoma Foundation of America honored Technoblade and expressed "deepest condolences with his family."



Brandi Felser the CEO of the charity, stated in the statement: "Technoblade rallied his supporters to raise over $500,000 in the past to fund the research into sarcoma. This allowed SFA to grant Technoblade research grants. Through these efforts, he leaves his legacy that will affect generations to come."



Felser said that Technoblade will be honored with the organization's Courage Award, an annual award given to those who inspire others "to create hope and a better life for the Sarcoma community" later this year.
