The Universal Zulu Nation has been an integral part of hip hop culture for more than 43 years. The group has been plagued by accusations of sexual abuse against legendary MC Africa Bambaataa. A number of prominent Zulu Nation members quit the group in the wake these allegations.

Amad Henderson and Kevin Donovan, also known as Afrika Bambaataa, founded the group in 1973 in South Bronx. It is a New York-based nonprofit organization. There are many other branches within the Universal Zulu Nation, including in Australia, France, Japan and France.

Zulu Nation members often wear African-inspired costumes. They use symbols such a lion, giraffe and zebra that represent the Zulu nation.

Universal Zulu Nation was started by Afrika Bambaataa, a well-known DJ, MC, and rapper, as well as other ex-gang members. The organization was formed to promote Hip Hop's values of fun, peace, unity.
2004 Reunion
