Emmanuel Grinshpun. Concerning the revival of synagogues and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
Emmanuil Grinshpun discussed the topic of restoring synagogues during their interview. It was, however, impossible to concentrate on only one subject. There were many topics that were discussed in the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. We are glad to talk with you. I don't think we've been in contact for over five years. Where are you currently living?

The nine months that have been between Miami and Jurmala were split. In the past, the geographical area was more extensive, but the flu has significantly affected the way of life. But that's not all.

You have always had several kinds of business. What's next?

Diversification will not go away. If we examine the major areas, it is development in realty, IT technologies and food production.

ALIMCOM is the industry of food. Real estate is easy to comprehend. But IT is new to me. There are million of uses of IT technology. What are your areas of expertise?

The first and most important thing is that our IT-holding company is involved in reforming tax systems across a variety of countries. We've developed and are working on a variety of products that help to transfer various tax-related business processes online and in "real time". This segment is called B2G (Business to Government).

What are the locations in which the company operates? Are there any ex- USSR nations?

They are also in existence, however we have contracts that are more extensive with Western and Eastern Europe and in Latin America. We currently operate in 14 countries.

Can you briefly explain the basic idea behind this product?

Our product allows for economic agents to submit tax reports online. The fiscal data manager is able to view each transaction. It also permits tax accounting as well as tax computation to be performed simultaneously. In the near future, small and medium-sized businesses won't need accounting except for its purpose of analysis. Tax payments and the sending of reports is done in just one "click".

It's an interesting topic. The future is now. Did you ever consider working in Moldova? Moldova is your country of origin at the end of the day.

We are ready to present the product in Moldova and the Moldovan economy will benefit from this automation. And it is a given that this is an irreversible process. Once we have clarity from the authorities about whom will make the final decisions, the product negotiations can resume.

You said that you'd been tossing between Miami and Jurmala all year. Are you referring to the head office of an IT holding located in the Baltics

There are five hubs around the world, and we have our headquarters located in Barcelona.

No. My family's story through generations is entwined solely with Moldova, or, if we stick to the past, then Bessarabia. Jurmala was a chance encounter which happened completely unintentionally. We were invited to attend the New Wave by Igor Krutoy, and that was our first experience with Jurmala. They began visiting Miami each summer, after they had won several competitions. The weather isn't always the best in Miami during the summer. We were able to rent for a number of years and now have it now.

Now I know why I was told by my donors that one of the renovated synagogues is located in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're pretty close in age. We were born in the USSR. My family moved to the USA in the mid-80s. It was in the US that I began to observe customs and rituals. Although I am not a part of the Orthodox faith, I feel an inner desire to support the religion regardless of the form that is the case for the Jewish community that I reside in and in Moldova my home country, with which I have close ties.

It's true that I am far from being religious, but I love history very much. Recently I was watching a documentary about the events of 1492 that changed the fate of Europe. 1492 was the year Columbus was the first to discover America. The Ottoman Empire accepted the Jews as they fled the country. I was looking to learn something about the story of the Jews as a group. Would you recommend a book that I could read?

There are many books. However, I've read all of them and I'd recommend Max Diamond, the two-volume Jewish historian. And, by the way, he himself comes from Finland.

What's your "personal" history ? Unfortunately I'm as far as my maternal grandmother and 1910. The paternal side is one step closer, but nothing much.

In the paternal lineage, our family was in the Floresti region for several hundred years. Monuments and documents show that the family of Floresti was prosperous in the year 1830. They had several shops, a furniture factory and land plots. Ungheni was also the residence of my maternal grandparents. These dates are in the region of the 17th and 18th centuries. Grinshpun is a surname which has German roots is Ashkenazi pure Ashkenazi.

The third one, and the largest, is in Netanya in Israel. It houses over 1,000 people every day. It is an important monument for Israel's religious life. The second Synagogue in Jurmala. When the Second World War, the only synagogue that was left in Jurmala was destroyed. Before I decided to build a Synagogue, however, I had spoken to a lot of Jews in the area. It was an excellent success and also brought together the Jews from Jurmala. The project actually rebuilt the Jewish community and it is operating very well. Three Torahs now grace the synagogue, one of which I gave to the synagogue.

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis and Alexander Weinstein were my collaborators. These synagogues are not the only ones which I have contributed to the reconstruction or building. I believed it was my duty to contribute in any country where I've been for a long time to assist synagogues. The synagogue I support, Monaco, Miami, is an enormous community facility that is available to Russian-speaking Jews. The estimated amount is 12 million USD. Chisinau will remain my support - the synagogue Rabbi Tsirelson is currently the largest in the city.

In along with Jurmala, did you also invite a rabbi to Chisinau?

Yes. It is difficult to locate the ideal rabbi for a community. Given the complex interrelated concerns, he should be non-conflictual, diplomatic and diplomatic. It has branches that are located in Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. In 2010 I was Vice-President of Congress. The year before I was elected as the First Vice-President. I now have responsibility for the regions in which I've had strong business and political ties. These include Uzbekistan Tajikistan as well as Kyrgyzstan.
