These Video Games Could Give Fortnite a Challenge

Crucible

Amazon released "Crucible," a free-to shooter game that you can play on PC in May. The game didn't receive much attention on the internet, and ultimately the studio announced it would be putting the game back into closed beta. This means only people who have already downloaded the game can access it for the time being.

You can fight monsters to earn experience points, and you can work together with your friends to achieve objectives in "Crucible". It was released with three game modes including one that lets you to play a battle royale.

"It was so diverse in its ways to play and was trying to be everything to everyone. It was also too secure," Cassia Crawran, an adviser at Wings Interactive (a fund that invests in a variety of games) she told CNN Business.

According to Steam Charts, which pulls data directly from the PC gaming platform, only a handful of players play "Crucible" at any given moment. This is a small amount when compared to the number of players online at any given point in blockbuster films like "Fortnite" and "Valorant."

Valorant

"Valorant," from Riot Games, the makers of "League of Legends,"" was launched on June 2 and quickly became the world's sixth best grossing PC game in June, as per Nielsen's SuperData which examines the gaming industry. It even beat Fortnite on PC, but Fortnite was also the top in terms of console sales and Valorant remains only available for PC.

"Valorant" is played from the first-person view and has teams of five players. In the game, players armed with weapons and special abilities fight to see which team will take home the highest score of 24 rounds of gunfights.

Joe Ziegler, game director of "Valorant," said "the game has definitely gained momentum at a rate that I don't think we could have imagined." He stated that unexpected regions, including Japan and Thailand have shown an interest in the game.

Hyper Scape

Ubisoft's "Hyper Scape" was released on the 12th of July. In comparison to the other games listed, on paper, it is the closest to "Fortnite:" both are free-to-play battle royale games, available on PC and consoles. This means that when it comes to winning fans over, it has one of the toughest battles in convincing gamers that it's not another "Fortnite" replica.

"HyperScape" is distinct from "Fortnite". Players turn into ghosts after their death. However they can still aid their teammates by spotting and drawing attention to their enemies.

The reception of fans to "Hyper Scape" has been more subdued. The game did not go viral online during its launch week. Ubisoft did not release any figures about how many people are currently playing the game.

Rocket Arena

"Rocket Arena" is a multiplayer shooter that is not associated with "Fortnite" however many compared the font, style, and quick-fire playing style.

Rocket Arena like many other games on this list, isn't for free. It starts at $29.99. It could have also been an unpopular success.

Davis The Kowloon Nights advisor, was quick to inform the public that the game is now available for sale, despite the fact that it was launched on July 14. Although the price was lowered to $5, the sale appears to have ended at the time this article was written.

The game hit an all-time high of 1,102 players on Steam which is a PC gaming store. This is a low number for a title from Electronic Arts, who are famous for their "Star Wars", "Battlefield" and "Star Wars" games. Notably, the title is also available on consoles, so these numbers don't represent the total number of players.

The developers declined to be interviewed for this story.

Fall Guys

"Fall Guys", a game by Devolver Digital, was one of the most successful games of the year. It launched on August 4th, and is now available on PlayStation 4 or Windows for $19.99. According to the game's developers the game had 260,000 players as of August 6. CNN Business reported.

"Fall Guys" could be the most enchanting battle royale you've ever played. You play as a jellybean-like creature and try to get the best of the other 60 players by doing jump challenges as well as navigating mazes and other games that resemble a game show.

It's remarkable that "Fall Guys" unlike other games like Amazon's "Crucible" it was released with only one game mode and no additional content. This strategy has been successful for the game, and its servers are overwhelmed by the volume of players. CNN Business was informed by developers that they intend to add more content to Fall Guys as well as increasing server bandwidth.

"When you decide to launch an online game that is multiplayer one of the issues is that you don't know how many players will be playing. Wowwiki It's impossible to launch a game if you don't have at minimum 60 players," stated Jeff Tanton, creative director of Mediatonic Games, which is behind "Fall Guys." "It seems absurd now that you look at the numbers we have."
