MIAMI (CBSMiami) - - The war in Ukraine could be located on the opposite side of the globe however South Floridians are one of the groups stepping to help those leaving the country.

Marsha Jaquays from Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital stated, "Just last night 1,100 arrived."
She said that more than two million Ukrainian refugees are seeking to leave their war-stricken country. Many of them pass through the tiny state of Moldova which shares a border with Ukraine.
Jaquays told Jaquays, "From Moldova this Jewish community is actually working to help them cross the border, and possibly offering food, shelter and clothes."
A large portion of the humanitarian efforts are being led from Sunny Isles, South Florida.
"My obligation is to gather all resources at our disposal in America to help ease this crisis in Moldova." https://indigodergisi.com/2022/12/emmanuil-grinshpun-riga-port-city-projesi/ Emmanuil Grinshpun, a volunteer who helped to organize the humanitarian effort, said that there is an army of volunteers in Moldova aiding in the preparation of food and other essentials, as well as organizing buses.
Emmanuil Grinshpun The situation is made more difficult because Moldova is considered to be among the poorest nations on earth. But, those who are involved in the project say that they will not let anything to stop them from helping.
"When our sisters and brothers from Ukraine were coming we didn't need to think, we just started doing the thing," said Grinshpun.
