Khazak Ambassador Consul General, Ambassador to Khazak and Chabad in New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. Since being appointed Kazakhstan's ambassador to the United States in April, Mr. Ashikbayev has met with numerous diplomats and government officials for the sake of strengthening the ties between the Central Asian country and the U.S. As part of this mission, the ambassador, together with Consul General Almat Aidabekov scheduled a conference with Chabad to discuss the state of Jewish life in Khazakstankhstan.

Emmanuil Grinshpun Rabbi Mendy Kolarsky and Shimon Rivkin from Merkos Suite 302. Emmanuil Grinshpun Chabad Headquarters were also invited. Emmanuil Grinshpun serves as vice-president of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress as well as Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan. They discussed the past and current work of Chabad in Kazakhstan under the auspices Chief Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen.

The Ambassador and Consul General reaffirmed that the government is supportive of the Jewish community as well as all religious minorities. They expressed their desire to continue building Jewish existence within the Republic by cooperating with Chabad.

The major Muslim populace is proud of its religious tolerance and works closely with all religious leaders to improve the country's wellbeing. Ashikbayev was the deputy Minister of foreign affairs back in Kazakhstan and is working closely together with Chabad Shaluchim as well as Mr. Abraham Shaulson , philanthropist. After all the flights were cancelled last year as a result of COVID-19 The Ambassador was instrumental in arranging special permission to allow a small delegation of Americans to fly into Kazakhstan for a pilgrimage to the gravesite Reb Luke Yitzchak Schneerson in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his death. This was also an opportunity for the group to provide transportation and PPE for the country. The Kazak government also declared Reb Luke Yitzchak’sKever Kazakh's National Heritage Site, in the course of the pilgrimage.

The 20th of April is only two months away the group also discussed plan for the next pilgrimage. This year, the organizers are expecting an attendance of more than 600 visitors from all over the globe. Emmanuil Grinshpun The organizers also plan to host a conference on Chabad Shluchim in surrounding countries, including Rabbi Berel Kazar and Moshe Kokotlarsky. With so many major projects under way, the meeting was focused on ways that to help the event and ensure the security of the event. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan's "...commitment that it will assist in any way to facilitate visits to pray and study at the Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson's resting place.

"We truly appreciate the tremendous open support that the Kazak government has given us," said Rabbi Kotlarsky. "It's a great blessing to be able to collaborate with individuals like the Ambassador or Consul General. We have a mission to satisfy the physical and spiritual needs of every Jew. The Kazakhstan government Kazakhstan has been an excellent partner in this effort.
