Just a few months after making its grand debut at this year's E3, Minecraft has finally made its way to the Android Market, much to the delight of cube enthusiasts and all those who love to waste time. Mojang hopes to faithfully recreate Minecraft on mobile platforms through this Pocket Edition app. Mojang is focusing on the game's creativity. Version Alpha 0.1 will let players explore worlds that are randomly generated and invite friends to join their worlds and save multi-player worlds to their mobile phones. You can also control 36 different types of blocks from the convenience of their touchscreens. Soundz promising For the moment the game will be available on Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play, though Mojang plans to make it available for other Android handsets "in the near future." Say hello to Minecraft - Pocket Edition
Today we are releasing the first version of Minecraft - Pocket Edition. The game will initially be available exclusively to Xperia Play, but it will soon be available to other Android devices.
The first version (Alpha 0.1) will focus on the artistic aspects of Minecraft. We have tried to put into the features that are suitable for playing on a mobile device while still keeping the core of the Minecraft experience. You can choose blocks with the touchscreen, or scroll through them using the circle and square buttons on your Xperia Play device. Multi-player support for the local wireless network is available in the first version. This allows you to create a world of friends and invite them to join. This release includes:
* Randomized worlds
Similar to the PC/Mac/Linux edition of Minecraft we're planning to keep creating the Pocket Edition for a long time with frequent updates. We are eager to hear what the Minecraft community thinks of our new game, and what you would like to see in future updates.
