Game developer Mojang last year, in a surprise announcement, announced it was working on Minecraft Dungeons -- a blocky take on the classic dungeon crawlers. We are now aware of when it will launch. The game was originally scheduled for release in 2019, however Microsoft is now claiming that it will launch on Xbox One, PC and Switch in April 2019.
The game touts the distinct Minecraft look and feel, however, it turns the classic formula of the series on its head. Instead of letting the players let their imaginations run wild on a vast and wide canvas, Dungeons is an adventure game that is packed with characters, quests as well as items and enemies and can be played by up to four people online.
Dungeons is something of a passion project for the team of a few at Mojang, but it's not the only Minecraft spin-off. Mojang was also the creator of Minecraft: Story Mode. The story-driven adventure game proved very popular when it was released in 2015.
According to Microsoft's most recent and somewhat vague trailer, players that sign up via Mojang's website will be in with the possibility of playing Dungeons first, perhaps hinting at a beta prior to of the official launch in April. Iqbalir.com It's not known when exactly this will happen.
