Minecraft's chat reporting and moderation features were launched last month, but quickly received criticism from the community for being unsuitable for the task. Minecraftservers.me Mojang has said that they will continue to use the tools, despite some harsh criticisms and arguments.
MojangMeesh (the community manager on Reddit) posted a post explaining his decision. "We appreciate and value all feedback, however it does not mean that it will ever change the principles of design Mojang Studios adheres to - this includes upcoming reporting system." The second paragraph of the post states that players have been making comments on complaints made by Mojang employees. Harassment is a concern which is actually the purpose of the tools for reporting in the first place.
Many players, in response this comment, have said that they don't feel that they're being heard. They consider every Minecraft server as a safe space and shouldn't be controlled. This is the case that there are many methods to remove these features from your personal server, using Spigot, or the CurseForge mod.
If there are no complaints or discussions about the features, it's normal for players to be dissatisfied. Many players have more than a decade of experience in this game and as adults, they think that they shouldn't have to be watched. However, it's important to keep in mind that Minecraft is a game full of younger players therefore there need to be security measures in place to protect players safe from harm. But, it doesn't seem that anything will change soon.
