How do I use Split-Screen in Minecraft

Do you still remember the days of playing console games with your friends on split-screen? You can now recreate those memories and create some amazing new ones with Minecraft split-screen. This feature is only available for consoles (Nintendo Switch and PlayStation) However, it is possible to create new memories with Minecraft split-screen.

Your TV or console screen must support at least 720p resolution. PlayStation Vita doesn't support split-screen because it's QHD (1/4 of 1080p). WiiU does not support split-screen, too, because it only has 480p resolution. You will have to connect your device to a TV screen with an HDMI or RGB component cable.

Check out the following article for more details and detailed steps on splitting the screen in Minecraft.

Minecraft Splitscreen Requirements

As briefly mentioned the console you'll need and a TV with 720p or higher. Also, you'll need to alter the resolution of the console to match that of the TV. This is straightforward. Go to the console's settings and move up to the display options. PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X usually set the resolution when using HDMI. However, previous manual adjustments might cause issues that require manual reconfiguration.

You can split the screen in Minecraft locally or online. A local split-screen can hold up to four players. The game of playing with your family or friends can be very enjoyable when you have a big TV screen. Let's start with the tips for local split screen and then talk about online split screen.

How to Split-Screen Minecraft Locally

Local split-screen refers to playing with one console, not to be confused with the LAN (local area network) play, where multiple devices get used. Up to four players are able to join any device. The instructions to play Minecraft in split-screen mode are different slightly for each game console however, the steps below will cover them all.

Here's how to set up a 'local split-screen in Minecraft:

1. Connect the console to the TV using an HDMI or component cable, and then start Minecraft.

2. Choose Create New if want to start fresh, or load a previous world from the game list.

3. In the Multiplayer settings, slide Multiplayer Game to the off position.

4. You can alter the difficulty and other game options to meet your needs.

5. To begin the game, select Play or Create.

6. Use an alternative controller to activate the second player on the console and then click the appropriate button(s) to join them in Minecraft. For example, the PS4 utilizes the PS button to activate a user , and the button Options (pressed twice) to add the second player to Minecraft.

7. If you do not have it yet, create an account for the other person. XBOX 360 and PS3 use the Minecraft Legacy Console Edition, so you first press Start on the second controller to be in the game, then it will prompt the user to log into the console.

How to Split-Screen Minecraft Online

You can play Minecraft on a split-screen screen with your local friends and also with other online players. Online play does not have a split screen. However the presence of two or more local players can share the split-screen with others who are online. Here's how to set up split-screen play online.

1. Log into your console with your Xbox Live Gold account or PlayStation Plus account. Local accounts and players on XBOX 360 or XBOX One aren't able to join XBOX 360 or XBOX One. The PS3 doesn't require PlayStation Plus, but the PS4 does.

2. For Minecraft Legacy editions, open your console and select Play Game, then Load or Create. For Bedrock editions, choose Create New or choose a game on your list.

3. You can alter your game options to your preference before launching your game. On Bedrock, go to the Multiplayer menu and make sure the Multiplayer Game is activated prior to starting the game.

4. Other "remote players" can accept your invitation (required), to join your gaming. Split-screen functionality only works on a per-console basis for up to four players however, they can play online alongside other players.

Minecraft's an interesting, fun and imaginative game. It's like any other game. It's more fun playing with friends. You can split the screen and play Minecraft similar to playing older console games with other players.

PC users might be feeling left out, which is understandable. Minecraft Servers If you have a large screen it's a shame that you're unable to split it or do the same thing as on console. You can look online for third-party software to split screens however, they might not be reliable and are not legally licensed.
