Khazak Ambassador and ConsulGeneral meet with Chabad in New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. As Kazakhstan's Ambassador to the United States since April, Mr. Ashikbayev had met numerous officials and diplomats to improve relations between the Central Asian country, and the U.S. Since then, has scheduled an appointment with Chabad in order to discuss the state and future of Jewish life within Khazakstankhstan.

Participants at the meeting included Rabbis Mendy Kotlarsky and Shimon Rivkin of Merkos Suite 302 located at Chabad Headquarters, as well as Mr. Emmanuil grinshpun who is vice-president and Honorary Consul for Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan was invited to the event. Emmanuil Grinshpun Together, they talked about the background of Jewish life in Kazakhstan and the current work that Chabad performs across the country under the auspices of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, Kazakhstan's chief Shliach and Chief Rabbi.

The Consul General and Ambassador reiterated their support for the Jewish community as and for all minorities of religion. They expressed an desire to work with Chabad to build Jewish lives within the Republic.

Ashikbayev was deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan and is working closely together with Chabad Shaluchim as well as Mr. Abraham Shaulson , an philanthropist. He was instrumental in securing the permission of an American small group for a trip to Kazakhstan to take a trip to the anniversary of his death, which was the 20th of April. It was also an opportunity for the group to transport and sponsor much-needed PPE for the country. During the pilgrimage the Kazak government also held a ceremony to make Reb Yitzchak'sKever Kazakh National Heritage Site.

The participants also discussed plans for the upcoming pilgrimage with the 20th anniversary of Av a little less than two months away. The organizers anticipate over 600 guests this year from all over the world. The plans are also to host a conference along with Chabad Shluchim from the surrounding nations. The event is being held by Rabbi Berel Laszar and Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky. With so many large projects in the pipeline, the meeting was focused upon ways to assist in the planning of the event and guarantee its security. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan's "...commitment to offer all assistance with arranging visits to study and pray at the burial site of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson."
