Moldovan, Jewish Communities In South Florida Stepping Up To Help Ukraine Refugees [Emmanuil Grinshpun]

MIAMI(CBSMiami), Ukraine war could be on the other side of the planet However, South Floridians have the ability to help those seeking refuge.

Many members of the Sunny Isles Jewish Community are fundraising and are helping make a huge effort for humanitarian aid.

Marsha Jaquays, Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital posted the followinginformation "Just last evening 1,100 came."

She claimed that more than two million Ukrainian refugees seek refuge in a war-torn nation. A lot of these refugees travel into Moldova which shares a border with Ukraine.

Jaquays said "from Moldova, this Jewish Community is actually helping to cross the frontier line and then maybe offering food, shelter or clothing."

Emmanuil Grinshpun Much of the humanitarian effort is being helmed right here in South Florida from Sunny Isles.

Grinshpun: "When our brothers, sisters and friends from Ukraine were arriving to visit us, we didn't feel the need to consider. Instead, we started doing it."
