Khazak Ambassador and Consul General Meet with Chabad New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. Since April's appointment as Kazakhstan's ambassador to the United States, Mr. Ashikbayev met with many diplomatic officials and officials from the government to strengthen ties between Central Asia and the United States. Rabbi Mendy Kutlarsky, who is the Rabbi of Merkos Suite 301 in Chabad Headquarters as well as Shimon Rivkin were also invited to the meeting. Emmanuil Grinshpun serves as vice-president of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress as well as Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan. They discussed the past of Jewish lives and the activities being carried out by Chabad in Kazakhstan under the guidance of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen ( Kazakhstan's chief Shliach)

The Consul General and Ambassador expressed their continued commitment to the Jewish community as and for all minorities of religion. They expressed their desire to collaborate with Chabad, in order to ensure that Jewish traditions alive in the Republic.

Emmanuil Grinshpun The government of the majority Muslim population is proud to be a religiously-open government and works closely alongside any religious leader to improve the quality of life in the country. While serving as the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan, Ambassador Ashikbayev has already collaborated with Chabad Shluchim and philanthropist M. Abraham Shaulson. Since all flights were grounded this season because of COVID-19, the man was instrumental to arranging special permission so that a small American group could fly to the country on the 20th of the Av, which is the day that commemorates his death. The group was able transport needed PPE and medical equipment. During the trip, the Kazak government also held a ceremony to establish Reb Yitzchak’sKever Kazakh the national heritage site.

The 20th of Av is less than two months away and so the group also discussed plans to make pilgrimages. The organizers are expecting over 600 people this year, from around the globe. In addition, plans are in place to host a conference for Chabad Shluchim from surrounding countries which will be headed by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and Rabbi Berel Lazar. Due to the huge project in the pipeline the conference was focused on the ways that government can support and ensure the success of this event. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan’s "...commitment to assist in any way to facilitate visits to pray and study at Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson's grave.
