Jungles are one of the largest and most diverse biomes found in Minecraft. Here's how to find a Jungle in Minecraft and what you can expect when you get there.

Information in this article applies to all versions of Minecraft including Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

How to Find a Jungle in Minecraft

Jungles are a rare event in Minecraft. Like the majority of biomes in Minecraft, Jungles have no set location, but they typically have a higher chance of spawning close to Savannas, Mesas, and Desert biomes. The huge amount of tall trees that make up the Jungles makes them immediately obvious. These trees will almost completely cover the roof of the Jungle with their leaves.

An external tool called Biome Finder can assist you in locating the exact location of Jungle biomes.

Jungle Trees

Jungle trees can grow up to 30 blocks tall and are typically covered in vines that players can climb. The biggest Jungle trees have a base composed of four blocks that extend upwards, which means you can get 120 blocks of wood from one tree. The base of a jungle tree makes a great base for constructing a treehouse.

The wood has a slight pinkish-red hue when the tree's Jungle Wood is refined and made into Jungle Wood Planks. The only unique feature of the Jungle Wood Planks is their color. They can be transformed into various tools and items as with all Planks. You can even make color variations for things like Doors, Boats, and Stairs.

Jungle Types

Jungles biomes come in different variations:

- Regular Jungle

- Jungle Hills

- Jungle Edge

- Bamboo Jungles

Jungle Hills are more dangerous than normal Jungle biomes. While in the Jungle Hill, it's best to remain on the ground until you can find an option to keep yourself in the air. In the Edge variants of the Jungle biome the trees are smaller and further from each other. Bamboo Jungles are mini-biomes that can be found in regular Jungles. They have smaller trees and are more likely to have pandas.

Jungle Ocelots

Only the Jungle biome is home to Ocelots. Although they are difficult to locate due to the density of the trees and bushes, Ocelots are definitely worth the effort as they scare away Minecraft Creepers that attempt to sneak up on you.

To capture an Ocelot to catch an Ocelot, slowly approach the animal using an uncooked fish. Once the mob has seen you and isn't fleeing you must stop and remain where you are. Allow the Ocelots to approach you and then feed them to gain their trust.

Jungle Temples

In some Jungle biomes, you can find mysterious structures made out of Mossy Cobblestone or Chiseled Stone Bricks. These Jungle Temples are full of traps, puzzles, treasure, and more. Inside you will find items such as Arrows Bones, Bones, Rotten Flesh, Saddles, Enchanted Books, Iron Horse Armor, Iron Ingots, Gold Horse Armor, Gold Ingots, Diamond Horse Armor and Emeralds.

Jungle Plants

Cocoa plants are native to the Jungle biome and grow on the sides of Jungle Trees. The Cocoa plant has three forms that include a small green form and a medium-sized yellow-orange type and a ready-to harvest dark orange-brown form. Cocoa can be used to make food and alter the color of food items. Cocoa Beans can only be placed on Jungle Wood and, therefore, if you are planning to bring it out of the Jungle to begin a farm, you should bring a few pieces of Jungle Wood with you.
