'Minecraft' Novel in the Works by 'World War z Author

With the billions of dollars Microsoft has invested in it, Minecraft's momentum isn't slowing. The game is now compatible with VR and has the ability to customize its world with Add-Ons, the movie has an official release date (although it's set for 2019) and is soon to be the first official novel. Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft: The Island is the new book. It was written by Max Brooks, who also wrote the post-apocalyptic zombie novel World War Z.

It's not known yet when the book will be published or if it will have any ties to the film, but it does appear that it will be the first in a series of. Publishing house Del Rey, a science fiction offshoot from Penguin Random House, is overseeing the entire process. The company has already stated that it was "fortunate" to have someone with Max's incredible talent and enthusiasm on board for the launch.



While parents will likely be responsible for more cash, some will be thankful that the Minecraft brand is extending its reach to education. Minecraft Education Edition will be available to teachers beginning November 1st. The publication of the novel will only boost children's love of reading.
