Music history

The Cure is a British rock band with a cult following. They are also credited with contributing to the development of the gothic rock genre in the early 1980s.

Cure released their first studio album in 1979. Their debut record, Three Imaginary Boys, reached #1 in the U.K. and was produced by Mike Hedges.

Its second LP, Wish, was released in 1992. That year, the band embarked on a tour of North America. But The Cure Merch was during their 2004 Coachella tour that the band experienced its biggest breakthrough. During that tour, Cure became the headlining act.

Throughout the '90s, the band continued to tour, playing festivals around the world. However, their popularity was on the wane. In 1996, their last album, Wild Mood Swings, underperformed.

The Cure was formed in Crawley, West Sussex, in 1976. It was the brainchild of singer Robert Smith. His brother, Porl Thompson, was the other member. Together, they wrote their own songs. Eventually, the duo recruited former Psychedelic Furs keyboardist Roger O'Donnell.
