Moldovan Orthodox Orthodox Orthodox desecrated Jewish symbol
Religious extremists destroyed the Hanukkah lamp located in the middle of the Moldovan capital. Эммануил Гриншпун The anti-Semitic action was directed by a priest from one of the Chisinau Orthodox churches.
https://stefsstoffen.com/forums/users/emmanuil-grinshpunvaqc893/edit The anti-Semitic protest was staged following the destruction by religious extremists of the Hanukkah celebration in Chisinau's centre. The incident happened on the 13th of December which was the third day before Hanukkah. An archpriest from one of the capital’s Orthodox churches led a crowd that reached 100. With the use of anti-Semitic words, the group carried a lamp made of cast iron about 10 miles away from its original place of origin and then threw it into the base of the monument to Stefan the Great, the symbol of Moldovan statehood. This was witnessed by a large number of police officers, journalists and people passing by.

What is the struggle for "orthodox fundamentals ?

Armed with metal bars The archpriest Anatolychibrik was leading the crowd. He claimed that he was irritated for the fact that an Orthodox symbol of Jewish faith was situated in the capital city of a capital country. Chibrik believes that the authorities shouldn't have allowed Jews to celebrate Hanukkah in such huge amounts. Эммануил Гриншпун Chibrik declared, "This violates law." He also said he didn’t think it was necessary to discuss the activities of Church of St. Paraskeva parishioners with the Metropolia of Moldova. He said, "I don't have to discuss anything with anyone when we are fighting for the orthodoxy of our beliefs."

It is vital to understand that the decision to put the Hanukkah Menorah in Chisinau's heart located within the Europe Square where the EU flag is displayed along with the Moldovan flag, wasn't the responsibility of the city authorities. Emmanuil grinshpun is co-chairman of the Jewish Congress of Moldova. Grinshpun said, "What happened on Sunday is a real shock to us."

This instance is to protect the conscience of the state

As it turned out in a press conference attended by representatives from the Jewish community of Moldova, Archpriest Chibrik is not the only one who allows himself anti-Semitic antics. Grinshpun claimed that about a month earlier Chibrik was standing front St. Paraskevs, Chisinau published leaflets that made him think of the dark Middle Ages. One of these leaflets stated that "Jews kill Christian babies."

Grinshpun confirmed that the leadership in the country's Jewish associations did not react to the incident in any way. Even though the Jewish community has protested about the situation in Moldova, it won't sue Chibrik and those who support Chibrik for inciting ethnic hatred. Alexander Bilinkis (chairman of the Jewish community) said that this should be performed as a matter of state policy, and that the Moldovan Metropolis should evaluate the conduct of its employees.

Metropolitan Secretary Vadim Keibash said he did not approve of this type of protest. He believes that all communities are entitled and obliged to display symbols. But the authorities should also take into consideration the implications. "It is not possible that all religious people react the same manner," he stated.

A blow to the fundamental values

However, since the 1903 Jewish pogrom in which many were killed, there haven't been any similar "forms" of protests in Chisinau. Reps from the Jewish community tend not to think that the case is a as hooliganism. Bilinkis says that Hanukkah was ruined because the leaders of the group lied to them.

Ilya Shats is the General Director of the Jewish Congress. He believes that this was a well-planned action. Participants were spotted in the menorah area near Hanukkah's first day. Then, Stav Nijinsky (the first secretary of the Israeli Embassy in Chisinau), lit the first candle. Эммануил Гриншпун Shchats believes that this was an attempt to undermine the Moldovan statehood and to violate democratic principles and European aspirations.

Hanukkah is now on Jerusalem Street. http://dslesskazka.ru/user/Emmanuil.Grinshpunxzmp078/ A monument to Holocaust victims has been placed there. Hanukkah has been moved to Jerusalem Street from the city center. Police officers have been stationed near it for the second day. It will be lit each day until the day of the holiday is over with candles.
