Minecraft mobs These are the living beings in Minecraft. Sometimes adorable, sometimes aggressive creatures can be found wandering around the biomes of the world of blocks. They'll react to the player, you and other mobs, regardless if it's a creeper at your door or the pig in your backyard pen.

Mobs in Minecraft are prone to the same changes in the environment and physical effects that affect players. They can be attacked with weapons and killed, while hostile mobs can drop rare items and resources.

In Creative mode, Minecraft mobs will never attack you, but they can be classified into three different behaviour categories in Survival and Hardcore modes, which are passive, neutral and hostile. To help you defeat hostile mobs, utility creatures like the iron golem or snow golem can be made. Trusting mobs can't be tamed, but have a special behaviour when interacted with and include dolphins, ocelots, and even the adorable Minecraft fox. Here's an overview of all the mobs and monsters that are found in the vast Minecraft landscape.

Minecraft passive mobs

Minecraft passive mobs won't attack you and then flee when they are attacked. They are able to breed, which means you'll see baby animals in the same area. Most mobs that are passive can be tamed if they aren't already. There are also Minecraft village inhabitants, such as traders and villager. Other farmyard friends can supply resources, such as wool from sheep or milk from cows.

Minecraft hostile mobs

Hostile mobs can be aggressive and dangerous in Minecraft. They attack you within a certain area, usually 16 blocks, without obstruction. However certain mobs can spot you from 100 blocks away. Mobs that fly, like the Minecraft Phantom or the Minecraft ender dragon, will spawn above you and attempt to attack you. A boss mob is a specific type of hostile with a larger detection range and higher health; examples include the Minecraft dragon that enders and the Minecraft wither.
