Emmanuil grinshpun was interviewed about the synagogues that were restored. However, it was impossible to keep the conversation on just one subject. Thus, there were a variety of questions in the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. It was nice to talk with you. Эммануил Гриншпун I believe we haven’t seen one another for at least five years. What is your current location?
In the last nine months, Miami and Jurmala split the difference. The geographical area was more extensive before, but the pandemic has impacted the way of life. And I'm not saying that it is only to the negative.
You've always had multiple lines of business. What do you do now?
Diversification isn't going anywhere. If we examine the most important areas that are developing, it's realty, IT technologies and food production.
ALIMCOM's food sector is ALIMCOM. Real estate may be understood, however it's completely new to me. There are a million applications for IT technology. What are you specializing in?
Our IT-holding is involved in the first place by tax reforms in several countries. We have created or are in the process of developing products that aid in the transfer of variety business processes that are related to taxation, both online and "real-time". This is known as the B2G (Business To Government) acronym.
Эммануил Гриншпун What is the situation in the area where the holding is located? Are there any former USSR nations?
They are still available. Also, we have agreements in Western Europe as well as Latin America. We are currently present in 14 nations.
Could you briefly define the essence of the product?
Our product allows economic agents online to report to tax authorities as well as the fiscal officer can view each transaction. Tax accounting as well as tax calculation can be done simultaneously. We can therefore expect that smaller and medium-sized businesses will not require accounting in the near future. Other than its analytical function, paying taxes and sending reports can all be done with one "click".
An intriguing subject. The future seems already in the air. Have you considered working in Moldova? Moldova is your home country at the end of the day.
We are willing to present our product in Moldova. This will be beneficial to the economic development of Moldova and it will be irreversible. When there is a consensus and clarity between the authorities regarding who will make the final decision We'll begin discussions regarding our product.
You've said that you've been hopping around throughout the year between Miami and Jurmala. The Baltics headquarters for an IT holding?
There are five hubs in the world, as well as the headquarter is in Barcelona.
Why then the Baltics! Are you a native of the Baltics?
No. My family's history for many generations is connected solely with Moldova, or If we stick to historical names, then Bessarabia. Jurmala was an accidental meeting that happened quite by accident. Igor Krutoy invited them to the New Wave. This was their first visit. After a series of events, they started to go to Miami each summer. https://stmegi.com/posts/61743/evreyskie-lidery-obsudili-v-moldove-voprosy-borby-s-antisemitizmom/ In Miami the weather in summer isn't exactly the most relaxing. We rented a house over several years and so we already own it.
Now I understand why you said that one synagogue was in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're about the same age. We were all born in the USSR. It wasn't necessary to talk about the religion of the time. We were all Komsomol members and pioneers. When did you decide to convert to religion?
My family and I moved to the USA in mid-80s. We can all say that this was the time I started to accept the customs of my country. While I don't believe in orthodoxy I am aware of a profound desire to be a part of the religion of the Jewish communities in my home country or Moldova. I was born in Moldova and have maintained close ties to the Jewish communities in Moldova.
You know, I myself am not religious, but I love the history of my country very much. Recently, I watched a program about the events of 1492 which changed the destiny of the world as well as Europe. 1492 was the year that Columbus discovered America. It was however stated explicitly in the program that 1492 was the year Columbus discovered America. When the mass exodus of Jews to the Ottoman Empire began, which accepted the Jews. I was looking to learn some information about the history of the Jews as a people. Would you recommend any of the books?
There are many books to choose from, but I have read and I advise you a two-volume Jewish historian Max Diamond. He is Finnish himself.
.... Do you or your family members have any "personal" or historical history? Unfortunately, I do not know anything beyond my grandmother's name and 1910. I am only one step ahead of the paternal side but not much more.
The paternal line of our family lived in the Floresti region for a number of hundred years. There is evidence in the form of documents and monuments to show that by 1830, they were extremely prosperous, they had furniture factories, numerous shops, and land plots. Эммануил Гриншпун My maternal ancestors were also in Ungheni. I'm talking about dates in the region from the 17th-18thcentury. Grinshpun is a German surname, which means we're Ashkenazis from Eastern Europe.
Here's a question on the maintenance and restoration of synagogues. I have been told that you provided funding for three synagogues' reconstruction. One of them is located located in Chisinau. Jurmala is the third.
The third largest and biggest is located in Netanya, Israel. Netanya is a large community center where a thousand people pray a day. It is a significant landmark in the spiritual life of Israel. The second synagogue of Jurmala. The Second World War saw the destruction of the sole synagogue in Jurmala. Previously, before deciding to build a synagogue, I spoke a lot with the local Jews and consequently, I decided to raise funds for the construction of the synagogue and invite a rabbi there. It was a great success and united all the Jews from Jurmala. In fact, we re-created the Jewish community, it is now functioning successfully. Three Torahs are now in the synagogue. I also gave one Torah to the synagogue.
and - Chisinau?
Yes. Alexander Bilinkis is one of my collaborators. Alexander Weinstein is another. But these three synagogues are not the only ones where I have been involved in renovation or construction. I felt it was my duty to contribute in any country where I've been for a long time to help synagogues. My contribution to Monaco, Miami, is an enormous community facility that is available to Russian-speaking Jews. Its estimated value is 12 million USD. I'm not stopping supporting Chisinau as it is now going to be the biggest synagogue, the synagogue of Rabbi Tsirelson.
In along with Jurmala, did you also invite an rabbi to Chisinau?
Yes. It is very difficult to find the right rabbi to serve the needs of the community. Due to the many interconnected interests, he must also be non-conflictual, diplomatic and diplomatic. He should be able to integrate into the community. http://logos.press.md/1374_13_1/ I am very happy to see that in both Chisinau and in Jurmala the rabbis were able integrate so harmoniously into the daily life of the community.
In 2019 you were elected vice-president at the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. Эммануил Гриншпун What does this title mean for you and how does international Jewish organisations impact the global landscape?
The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, a strong organisation in the post-Soviet region is not just an organization for political purposes. There are branches of the organization in Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. In 2010, I was serving as the Vice-President of Congress. However, in the year before, I was appointed the First Vice President. In the present, I'm in charge of the region in which I've strong political and business relations. They are Uzbekistan (Tajikistan), Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzstan). The current trend across the globe is that the attitudes toward Jews are either on the same level, or have swung down, which is extremely painful. Also, the word "down" is used to refer to countries like France, Germany, France as well as the United States. These countries are not safe anymore for Jews. They are extremely dangerous and disturbing events that affect all of us.
What has the pandemic changed these processes if at all?
I don't think so. Concerning the pandemic, however I'd like to emphasize how strong a society can be when they're ready for any challenge and are able and willing to work together.
You're referring the vaccination campaign in Israel.
Exactly. Israel is the only country that offers the complete vaccination of its adult population. It is an excellent example that I believe other nations should take into consideration.
Congress to support the Ewish
