Veloren, the free and Open Source Multiplayer Voxel RPG, has a Major Release Date

Are you looking to play a different quality free and open source game? Veloren is a multiplayer voxel RPG inspired by games such as Cube World, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Dwarf Fortress, and Minecraft. Veloren was developed in Rust which is a fancy coding language. It has grown tremendously over the last year and is rapidly becoming what could be the next big FOSS game.



This release includes some of the following:



- Climbing Speed and Cost: New Skills Pickaxes can be utilized to gather gems or mine weak rock. - Jumping out of rolls could give you a boost. It is also possible to jump out of rolls. Prestalive Dungeons now have a variety of stairs. Trades now display item prices in tooltips. Attacks have sound effects now sound when they hit the target. Crafting menu tabs - Auto camera settings make it easier to play with one hand. Topographic map option - Search bars for social or crafting window - Villagers, guards, and other players are now spawned with potions and are aware of how to use them. Combat music for the dungeons if they are in the vicinity of enemies. - One handed weapons can now be used and found in the world - Players can now opt-in to server-authoritiative physics in gameplay settings. - You can sort your inventory by pressing the button. - Crafting stations are now available in towns. - Any missing translations are now displayed in English. - Large birds npcs have been added to the game - Day period dependant wildlife spawns you can now block and parry using melee weapons - Lift is now calculated for gliders on the basis of dimensions (currently same for all) The tracks that are specific to a particular game are now available exclusively in towns. You can now put markers for your map that are custom made - Mountain peak markers and lake markers are now accessible on the map. A minimap mode has been added that visualizes the terrain in the same chunk. Chat tabs: NPC's now hear certain sounds



This is a small portion of the complete and long changelog for the 0.10.0 release.



Download it from the Veloren site. There are a variety of ways to download it, including direct download using a launcher to keep it up to date, Flatpak, Snap and more. If you do choose to download it now, there's a release party on the official server, seems like it could be a lot of fun and the download is quite small still too so it won't take up much space.
