Minecraft Console Cheats and Commands: how to make use of The Commands

So to take the hard work out of crafting and speed up inventory navigation, here's list of nifty little Minecraft cheats - which are accomplished by using console commands.

How to use Minecraft commands

First it is that cheats are only used only on PC. Console players must keep playing the old-fashioned way. These are only available in worlds with cheats enabled. This is why you'll be asked when you create the world you want to create or play a single-player LAN game, and then select the option to allow Cheats.



Once you have your cheat-enabled world installed all you have to do is type in some commands. The first step is to press the C' key to bring the command bar up.



The command bar is where you will enter commands. Each command has to be preceded by a forward-slash (/). You'll also have to choose targets to be the recipients of your cheats - but instead of writing out the full names you can make use of this shorthand target selector shortcuts:



@p = the closest player. @r = random player


- @a = all players


- @e = all entities


@s = the person who executes the command


That's the basics - now you only need to type in your desired cheater's code using the following console commands.






Minecraft player console commands



Kill


/kill [player]

Kills your character. You can also target other players in your world by typing their names.





Teleport


/tp [player]

Teleport yourself to specific coordinates around the globe. You can also make use of the teleporter in order to connect to another player by entering their name.





Status Effects


/effect [duration]

Apply the selected effect to the selected player or entity with the duration measured in seconds.





Clear Status Effects


/effect clear [effect]

Clears either all effects or just a specified effect from a person or entity





Enchantment


/enchant [level]

The enchantment applies to the player's item at their discretion.





Experience


Experience add

Adds the specified experience points to a specific player. The addition of the word "levels" at the end of the line will add levels of experience instead.

Help [CommandName] displays additional information about the selected command.





Give


/give [Amount]




Give an item to another player for a certain amount.






Minecraft World Console Commands



Seed Code


/seed

It gives you the seed code so that you can recreate your world later.





Place World Spawn


/setworldspawn [x y z]

Set the world's spawn point either in relation to the player's current location or a set of entered coordinates.





Change Game Mode


/gamemode [player]




You can change the game's game mode to survival or adventure, or creative, spectator.





Change Difficulty Level


/difficulty

Change the difficulty level to peaceful, easy, normal or hard.





Change World Time


Time/date set

Change the world's game time with the following values 1 = Dawn 1000 = Morning, 6000 = Midday, 12000 = Dusk, or 18000 = Night.





Stop Day/Night Cycle


/gamerule doDaylightCycle false

To start the cycle of day and night, turn off the cycle and then switch to false from true.





Weather


/weather [duration]

Change the weather by selecting the choice of clear, rain, or thunder and an optional duration in seconds.





Weather Changes can be turned off


/gamerule doWeatherCycle false

Switch off weather changes, then replace false with true once again to restart the program.





Clone Blocks


/clone

Clones the blocks between coordinates


and


Place them at the coordinates

Atlantis mode


/atlantis




This one is a creative one. It raises the level of water in your own world so that you can emulate Atlantis.





Change Fall damage


/falldamage

Turn fall damage off and turn it back on.





Fire damage


/firedamage

Turn off and switch off fire damage.





Water damage


/waterdamage

Change the water damage option to enable





Instant plant


/instantplant

Plants germinate instantly





Instant mine


/instantmine

It allows one-click mining.






Minecraft Item & Mob commands



Add to Inventory


/give [quantity]

Adds a certain item to the player's inventory, in the specified amount if possible.





Keep your inventory after death


KeepInventory true

When you die the inventory items you have in your possession are not lost. To undothe damage, replace true by false.





Summon Entities


/summon [x y z]

Spawns the mod or any other entity at the player’s location or chosen coordinates.





Shop for items


/dropstore

All inventory items are stored in a new chest.





Item damage


/itemdamage

Weapons are no longer prone to damage or degrading.





Duplicate


/duplicate

Copies the equipped item stack.





Smelt item


/superheat

Smelts selected items.
