Minecraft 1.20-everything we Know about the Upcoming Major Minecraft Update

Minecraft 1.20-everything we know about the upcoming major Minecraft update

Minecraft 1.20 does not yet have an official title, but it is focused on "creativity and intrinsic motivation".

Minecraft 1.20 As we've all anticipated, will be the next major Minecraft update to come out in 2023. It doesn't have its own title yet though. Mojang has recently said that it has learned from showing off features too early, leading players to be disappointed when things change during development or are pushed back into later updates. OC CITIES So this time we've only seen a tiny portion of the features list for 1.20 and do not have a name to hang our expectations on.

We are aware that Mojang said that update 1.20 will focus on "self expression and creativity and intrinsic motivation." That last sentence is something that I got to hear a lot about from Minecraft's game director Agnes Larsson and gameplay designer Nir Vaknin, when I spoke to them earlier in 2022. They don’t want Minecraft to be a clingy.

It's not a surprise that several of the new features we've heard about in 1.20 are focused on building: new aesthetic blocks and a functional bookshelf. We also get a nod towards adventure with the brand new camel mount in the deserts.

While the feature list seems a bit too short, we know Mojang will announce more features for version 1.20 as it gets closer to its launch. Here are the complete details of the upcoming update that we've learned so far:

When will the Minecraft 1.20 update be available?

Minecraft 1.20 will launch sometime in 2023, although Mojang hasn't provided an exact date for the launch yet. Mojang has stated that the features included in the update are close to being developed completely, it feels likely that we will see the new version launch a year after the previous version, possibly in the summer of 2023.

Although the full update won't be available for a while, we will be able to experience Minecraft 1.20 features very soon. Mojang announced that it will start publishing Minecraft Preview builds and 1.20 snapshots a few days after the October 15 reveal stream.

What new blocks are being added to Minecraft 1.20?

So far the new blocks for Minecraft 1.20 we've seen so far are mostly focused on personalizing builds and telling stories using new contraptions. There's a new bamboo wood type, the practical bookshelf with chiseled edges and hanging signs too.

Hanging signsthey are available on ceiling, wall and narrow hanging options.

Bamboo wood: a complete set of bamboo wood blocks including trapdoors, doors and planks.

Raft: the bamboo version of the boat is actually a flat raft you can ride on.

Bamboo mosaic A new type of decorative block specifically designed for bamboo.

Chiseled bookshelf:A functional bookshelf that can be used to store up to six books on.

The ability to emit redstone signals makes the chiseled bookcase attractive. It emits the redstone signal in response to how many books it holds. This signal could be used to power some interesting hidden doors, Mojang suggests. Mojang declares that the shelf doesn't come with an inventory interface. This means you'll place books on the shelf by clicking on it with the book in your hand or by pointing using a reticle and clicking using an empty-handed.

The new Minecraft 1.20 mobs include the sniffer and camel

Two new mobs have been added to Minecraft 1.20 to date The other mob is the

camel

Mojang chose to be a new mount for the desert and sniffer, and won the vote of the mob in the community.

Camels can be seen in desert villages walking, sitting, and flopping their little ears. They're a brand new kind of mount, which is part of their most exciting feature: They can seat two players. This means that you can bring a friend along on a trek between bases without the need to use two different mounts. Camels also have a unique horizontal dash ability for crossing ravines.

The sniffer is a dying overworld mob that you'll need to revive by locating their eggs. They're large and turtle-like with mossy backs and a large yellow snout, and large pink ears. After hatching, sniffers will find ancient seeds in the ground and bring them to you to plant.

Minecraft will get seven new default skins for characters

No longer do you have to pick between Alex or Steve for your default Minecraft appearance. Mojang has introduced seven new default characters: Makena (Efe), Noor, Kai Ari, Sunny, Sunny, and Zuri. Mojang states that this is another part of its efforts to aid players express themselves, by providing a variety of new characters to play as.

Minecraft Bedrock players still have access to the dressing room to create their own Minecraft characters. Java players can also download tons of Minecraft skins designed by other players. However, it's nice to give a nod to new characters.

Mojang claims that the new default characters for Minecraft will be available before update 1.20 in November or December 2022.

Is there a new biome added to Minecraft 1.20?

However, it's not likely, Mojang stated during a Q&A session with the press regarding update 1.20. However, Mojang has made it clear that it hasn't announced the full feature list for the update, which means it might be putting off an announcement about a biome twist. It's best to trust Mojang and avoid getting too overly excited, but it's possible to do anything.

The most recent major Minecraft update that didn't include any new biomes was Minecraft 1.15 and Buzzy Bees in 2019. This update put a major emphasis on the bee mob and all its associated items, including honey blocks and bee nests. We can expect a similar attention to other areas if version 1.20 does not include biomes.
