It's likely that Minecraft will meet the August release date on PS4 after it failed Sony's certification tests. It's now back to the fixing board for 4J Studios, and the team will have to re-submit the game for certification before it is released.
4J has been working on fixing issues and squishing bugs throughout the month, not just in the PS4 version, but also in the coming Xbox One and Vita releases too. We've reached out to the studio to confirm that there is a delay, and whether that'll only affect the PS4 version or other platforms too. All three versions are due for release this month.
Sony discovered some issues we need to fix in their final test of #MinecraftPS4 :( We're fixing, but we need to go through the process over again.
- 4J Studios (@4JStudios), August 20, 2014. When they hit, the Xbox One or PS4 versions of Mojang's popular game will be available at $20 on digital storesfronts. Players who have downloaded Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will be able to upgrade to Xbox One and PS4 respectively at a cost of $5. The offer will last for at least a year past release date. The new consoles will provide bigger worlds and greater draw distance than previous console releases.

The Vita version is cross-buyable with PS3. This means that users who purchased Minecraft on the console will be able to download the handheld version for free, and new buyers will be able to play the game on Vita and PS3. Similar to the other ports, the price for grinding your pickaxe on Vita is $20.
