The Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft will be available in August for $20, Mojang announced today. The game will be $5 on Xbox One and PS4 for players who have Minecraft on Xbox 360 and PS3. Info Cross-buy title Vita edition, which means that when you already own Minecraft for PS3 or Xbox 360, you can get it on Vita for free. All PS3 DLC is compatible with the Vita version, but not all textures and skins will work on PS4 or Xbox One versions, due to licensing agreements.
Minecraft: Xbox One and PS4 editions offer more worlds than the current generation versions, and both let users import save data from Xbox 360 and PS3 + Vita games respectively. However, saves can't be transferred from next-gen systems to current gen systems.
"There are technical reasons behind this. We can create worlds that are bigger without too much stress, but shrinking them causes all kinds of problems," Mojang says.
