Microsoft is Bringing Minecraft Legends, Lies of P, and a whole Bunch more To Gamescom

The Xbox lineup for Gamescom-Microsoft's debut in-person appearance since 2019, has been revealed.

Microsoft has announced its plans for the coming Gamescom 2022 (opens in new tab) show taking place later this month in Cologne, Germany. This year's Gamescom will be the first time Microsoft has held an in-person appearance at Gamescom since 2019 however, for those who aren't able to attend (which, let's be honest is a majority of us) it will also provide a livestreamed presentation (opens in a new tab) that will include interviews and gameplay from multiple studios and games.

The Xbox Booth at Gamescom livestream begins at 5 am 8 AM PT on August 25, (it's in Europe) and will run until 11:01 PT/2 PM ET. The broadcast in English will be available in German and French as well as Italian, Spanish (Latin American and Castilian), Brazilian Portuguese and Chinese (Simplified). English Audio Descriptions, ASL, BSL, and DGS interpretations will also be available.

A more detailed schedule will be announced in the weeks leading up to Gamescom, but this is "a glimpse of what to expect":

Microsoft Flight Simulator (opens new tab) (Asobo Studio/ Xbox Game Studios Publishing). Gunfire Reborn is (opens new tab)(Duoyi Games/505 Games).
Flashants.com

Sea of Thieves (opens in new tab) (Rare Games (Rare Games) Xbox Game Studios)

Lies of P (opens new tab) (Neowiz

High On Life (opens in new tab) (Squanch Games)

Grounded (opens in new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment / Xbox Game Studios)

Pentiment (opens in new tab) (Obsidian Entertainment / Xbox Game Studios)

A Plague Tale: Requiem (opens in new tab) (Asobo Studio / Focus Entertainment)

Minecraft Legends (opens in new tab) (Mojang Studios & Blackbird Interactive / Xbox Game Studios)

Planet of Lana (opens new tab) (Wishfully/Thunderful)

Age of Empires 4 (opens new tab) (Relic Entertainment and World's Edge/ Xbox Game Studios).

There's definitely something interesting to be found there. Pentiment, a 16th-century narrative adventure in development at Obsidian, is probably at the top of my list, but Lies of P-the Pinnochio Bloodborne-alike-looks darkly promising too, and of course everyone is waiting for a closer look at Minecraft Legends, the RTS Minecraft spinoff. Another one I am very excited about is Planet of Lana, an indie platformer set to release later in the year.

If you are unable to attend Gamescom in person Microsoft will have a selection of games for public play (including Lies of P, Planet of Lana) and you'll be able to take photos with among them the VASCO robot from Starfield and a five-meter-wide Broodmother Spider from Grounded. Here's how to be a part of the fun:

Thursday, August 25 - 10:00am - 8:00pm CEST

Friday, August 26th 10:00am - 8:45pm CEST

Saturday, August 27 9:00 am - 8:00 pm CEST

Sunday, August 28th, 9:00am until 8:45pm CEST

Gamescom 2022 will get underway in full swing with Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live show, that will begin at 11 am PT/2 pm ET on the 23rd of August. The Future Games Show (opens in new tab), hosted by our good pals at GamesRadar will air at the same time on August 24 and will feature a showcase of 50 games from a range of different developers.

Andy has been gaming since the beginning. He began with simple text-based adventures and primitive action games using a TRS80 cassette-based TRS80. He later played the Sierra Online adventures and Microprose sims. He also managed a local BBS and was taught how to build computers. This led to a long-lasting passion for RPGs as well as immersive sims. He began writing videogame news in 2007 for The Escapist and somehow managed to avoid being fired until 2014 when he was a part of the storied ranks of PC Gamer. He covers everything in the industry, including new game announcements and patches, legal disputes, Twitch beefs and Esports. Lots of Henry Cavill.
